“see the world's only Corn Palace!”
No one can visit Mitchell without seeing The World's Only Corn Palace. Established in 1892 and at its present location since 1921, the structure is stripped each year and decorated anew with murals formed by thousands of bushels of corn, grasses, grains, and other products celebrating South Dakota's bounty. The Corn Palace is mentioned in the book "1,000 Places to See in the USA and Canada Before You Die". Mitchell has an indoor recreation center and an outdoor aquatic center to cool off on those hot summer days. At the Dakota Discovery Museum, you will be able to learn about the lives of the Plains Indians, the Fur Trade, Dakota Territory, Railroading, Farming & Ranching, and the 1930s Great Depression. There is also an art gallery with displays from various artists. Be sure to stop by Cabela's, which is just minutes away and conveniently located off I-90 at exit 332. Return to our comfortable campground with Tent Sites, Camping Cabins, and RV Sites with a variety of lengths up to 80 feet long. We offer free mini-golf, bike rentals, a new playground clubhouse with three towers, various yard games & ice cream treats to keep kids big and small happy. Be sure to stop into the general store where you will find a variety of RV supplies, drinks, ice, snacks & souvenirs. After a stay here, you'll be rested and ready for the road. Max pull through is 80 feet. Please note: No out-of-state firewood is allowed due to the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer Beetle, Asian Gypsy Moth, and the Asian Longhorned Beetle; we do have approved firewood available for sale. Thank you for your understanding & cooperation. We look forward to welcoming you and your family to our park. Your hosts: Mark & Steffany

Slept here for a night while driving through South Dakota. Excellent location, make sure you stop at the Corn Palace! Overall a good campground (safe, clean, etc.) PS. Great showers!
This is a cute little KOA tucked between some farmland off 1-90 just east of Mitchell. A good stopover spot with its friendly owner onsite. Probably the best feature of the campground is its enormous trees which offer ample shade to most sites. It is an older park and a little worn around the edges but overall well-maintained. The layout of sites makes turns a little tight in places especially for longer rigs with toads. You’ll find all the requisite KOA amenities like mini-golf, playground, pool, etc. Convenient to shops and restaurants of Mitchell and the Corn Palace which unfortunately our breakneck schedule caused us to miss.

Not as close to interstate as most KOA's which makes it quieter. The owners are very nice and friendly. Lots of shade from trees and mostly grass in the park except for the gravel sites.

This is the only KOA we've ever stayed at, and it delivered just what we needed when we passed through Mitchell: easy access, shade, and hookups for a night. The owners were friendly and the campground was clean and quiet. Can't ask for more. It's an easy drive into downtown for the required Corn Palace visit.

I found this park at the last minute and was concerned because a couple of reviews mentioned “highway noise”. I’m a super light sleeper in a Class B Airstream and I heard nothing. Beautiful grounds and very peaceful. The bathroom/shower room was beautifully decorated and immaculate. I would definitely recommend.

This is a nice family campground with tons of trees and shade. It wasn’t a party all night but there are lots of kids enjoying the park. Park WiFi was good and fast.

You always hear the horror stories of parks and their WiFi, or lack thereof. This place certainly doesn’t fit the typical mold. Walked around the parameter of the campground and was consistently getting 10mbps down and up, enough for me to work an entire workday on the park’s WiFi.
Otherwise this was a nice little gem of a campground with lots of shaded sites. The only spots without shade were some of the tent sites, but even most tent sites had shade.
Clean restrooms, convenient to I-90 but could barely hear the freeway noise. I know a lot of folks shy away from KOAs and in some cases, rightfully so, however this was a pleasant surprise.

Our overnight here was quiet & shady. Easy access from I-90. Staff is friendly & helpful. Received 2 cute little red plaid can sleeves as gifts. 😀
Our site was pull through. Had fire pit & picnic table. No sewer but for our overnight was fine for us. Had 50 amp & water. Site was long enough that there was no need to unhitch! 👍🏻
We didn’t use bathrooms here or the laundry. Sadly for us, it’ll have to be next visit to use the pool as well.
