Missoula has pretty strict camping laws. The KOA is the only campground right in Missoula. Everything else is a good 20 minute drive outside of town, cost about the same price per night and none of them seem to be any more scenic. We typically prefer to boondock or stay somewhere a little more quiet and peaceful than KOA's but for this occasion, it was our best option and exceeded our expectations. The staff was very nice and helpful. The campground was clean and pleasant. There was a small playground for our kids and the town school busses parked right next to our site. This maybe a drawback to some but our kids loved watching them come and go everyday. We were within walking distance to REI, Costco, a few other stores and restaurants. We originally planned on staying only two nights but we're having so much fun exploring the town we ended up staying for 10. as far as campgrounds in Missoula go, this is your best bet! And it's quite nice.

Other than the very high price, it's an ok RV park. It's just not our cup of tea. It is a huge park and includes mobile homes in some areas. It is centrally located near lots of shopping and restaurants. The sites are a bit narrow and short for larger rigs. Our site did include a separate parking area for the tow which was nice. The utilities worked fine. Not sure about the WII FI as we didn't use it. We just stayed one night to pick up someone at the airport. We would not stay here again.

We never stay in KOAs because of the cost and the usual reputation of being sardines stuffed in a can. We were in here in October so it wasn't busy at all. That might be why it's getting 4 stars. They still put us all together instead of giving us some space, but whatever, it was quiet. The perfect location for being in Missoula and that's why it has 4 stars. This might get fewer stars if we had reservations in June, but for off season it was perfect. We had stayed farther away before because of the cost, but it's worth it to be in town and not have to drive 20-30 miles to get here. It's still expensive, so that is why it doesn't get 5 stars. We thought our 2 nights was plenty. I would stay longer if it was cheaper.

We booked a 2 night stay here on our way to GNP, we've stayed at many KOA's on this adventure with our 4 Grandchildren. This KOA has so many "no this, no that", rules, they really should have a sign out front that says No Children. Guess the staff has forgotten the excitement of being a child and being excited about being able to travel.
One staff member made my 8 yr old Granddaughter cry at the pool. She was obeying the No diving signs but did a flip into the pool and he raised his voice at her, so much that she won't go back to the pool. Very disappointed. Would never return.
Lots of loud trucks woke us up early in the mornings.
Unfriendly staff

Stopped here because we were doing a tour At Montana State. Not a lot of choices of parks that are close. Right in town and close to services , shopping and Costco. Typical KOA. It is off season so pretty empty which is nice. We needed to have a late checkout and they allowed us to do it although the staff said that during the busy season they would not have been able to accommodate us. Staff was friendly.

We have stayed in this KOA twice. We had one of the deluxe pull-thru spots with 50 Amp service.

The staff is very friendly and we were escorted to our spot. There was also a separate parking area for our truck which was a nice feature.

We had a grassy area next to our trailer which was nice for our dogs. This is a large camping park with 2 different dog parks.

The KOA is relatively close to the interstate and a large Walmart.

This was our first KOA stay, but since we have an 8 year old nephew on board for the summer, we figured this would be a nice reprieve from our recent 'no amenities' RVing style. We called a few days before arriving and were able to snag a 'Deluxe' site. The site was pristine upon arrival, and surprisingly well spaced from its neighboring sites for a city based RV park. 30A/50A, H2O, sewer, cable, free WiFi (although it was 'flimsy'). Getting out of our site was not simple, but we've learned to drive this monster well enough to get it done.

The park is quiet at night, and relatively quiet during the day (for being in an urban area) - but there are nightly sprinklers that run and can be heard if you're a light sleeper.

The amenities here are really nice - especially for kids. The pool is pristine and two hot tubs are available to those over 18.The game room offers (older) arcade games, and checkers and pool - and is staffed from 10am - 11pm. Mini-mini golf, two playgrounds, a weekly wildlife show and free roaming semi-friendly bunnies roam near the cabin and tent area. You can rent 'sit down' bikes ($), there is a nightly 'ice cream social' ($ - aka, just selling scooped ice cream from 7 - 9:30pm) and there is a buffet breakfast in the morning ($). There is even a walking path beging the office to the back the nearby shopping plaza which hosts REI, Marshalls, etc.

This is a very staffed park - there are roving KOA police almost every where you go; and yes, they are mostly older folks. Which is fine, except when it comes to the kids activities, where the staff here has clearly seen 'too much' of the current generation of kids. There are about a million rules here - and it would be best if you get your kids (and yourself!) to memorize all of them, because staff is not happy when they must remind you of them. I watched several different families get scolded/threatened with ejection from the pool for doing things like: playing volleyball in the pool (too loud), one child in a family not having wristband on in the pool, touching the center rope in the pool (an under 3 year old reaching for balance), splashing too much water outside of the pool (another little-little one). We spent a lot of time at the pool, apparently. The level of direction/threats depended on who was the pool master for the day (it's always staffed). Saw two kids leave the pool area looking terrified when Linda was in charge - but at other times of the day, the reprimanding was gentler and non-threatening and much better received by both kids and adults. Anyways, just make sure to memorize the pool rules and you will hopefully be able to enjoy this well cared for amenity!

Showers/toilets were clean enough - aging a bit.

Overall, we had a really nice stay here - and if it weren't for watching so many parents/kids be chastised harshly we would perceive this as a 5 star place. The price is a But extravagant, but being a KOA, and a '1 night stay' kind of place for many - it's not shocking.

Couldn't get a reservation at Jim and Mary's west of town, but the KOA was able to work with our needs and get us in for the dates we needed.

The park is right in town and very convenient for getting things done - Missoula has all the services you need and a gazillion RV dealerships, service centers, etc.

Because the office is in the middle of the park rather than at the front, getting to your site takes you on a tour of the place (they do lead you in their gold cart). For getting to the dump on our way out we had to redo the tour all the way around the park.

For a KOA, and for an urban park, the sites are very nice. Larger than most, with lush green grass. We were able to get level on our gravel site. Interior roads are asphalt. Many sites have nice shade trees, and we were able to get an open sky site for our satellite.

WiFi is provided, but we weren't able to use it often. We don't use amenities but they have several. The pool was well used and looked to be well maintained.

Other commenters mentioned the park is heavily staffed and we noticed this too. They were all working to maintain the grounds, and definitely keeping an eye on things. Although most are very friendly, it did start to feel a bit intrusive.

Quiet the whole time we were there, lots of one-night stops so mornings and late afternoons are quite busy. Fire rings at the sites means some smoke in the evenings, but quiet time was respected.

No road noise that we heard, few sirens, nothing from the neighboring apartment buildings.

You’re right in town which is nice for food and shopping. The sites are extremely close together though. While we were there the police cane twice but I only heard the disturbance once.

The office and check-in was great. Staff was friendly. This is a big park with permanent mobile homes around the perimeter that seemed to be part of the park. It's off a busy road but close to Costco, Target, Walmart. Its in the shopping part of Missoula. Road noise was not an issue. We had a water/electric site. Site was gravel and not level. There's a lot of grass around and the patio sites looked nice. It has lots of tall trees around to provide shade. We did not use the pool or laundry. Would stay again if in the area.
