Days Inn

My wife and made a reservation and told them that we had a dog. When we arrived at the hotel they had her sign what she thought was a pet policy form like we signed at all the previous hotels where we stayed. We are retirees and are driving from Pennsylvania to live in Portland Oregon. It turns out that they had her sign a form saying we did not have a pet. We were not in the room for 10 minutes when the desk person came to inform me we would have to pay a $150 fee for bringing the dog (a 4 pound Yorkie into our room. I told her that I informed the person with whom I arranged the reservation we had a dog and the information on Priceline said pets were allowed. This was a misunderstanding and I offered to move to a par friendly room and pay the pet fee but was told it was too late for that solution and we signed to pay the cleaning charge if we brought in a pet without prior notification. I told my wife did not understand what she was signing at check in. The discussion got a little heated because the clerk was being so rigid and I got loud trying to get her to listen to my side of the story but she kept talking over me. She told me I could take this up with the manager at 7 am but this was their policy and she indicated that the manager would tell us the same thing in the morning. She also told me that she did not have to listen to me because I was rude. She also said I could check out and find another place but would not refund our charges on my debit card. I will be meeting with the manager in the morning. Besides the problem with the misunderstanding about my pet our room smelled of cigarette smoke and it was filthy ( it was supposed to be non smoking)! We also did not have a phone in the room. There was also a smell of rotten cabbage when I first entered the room that made me nauseous. Avoid this place like the plague. Wish me luck on my meeting with the manager in the morning!
