there were these billboards along the Interstate advertising $17 per night at this RV park, so I decided to stop in for a night to recharge the battery, shower, and do laundry.

I was cautious of course. It is more often you find a complete dive for this price then a little gem, but Bar S was good to me. The gentleman running the place was super friendly and helpful. The fact is, he charged me the discounted price as well, which goes a long way to me liking someone, so I ended up staying 3 nights here. Full 120v power, clean shower and bathrooms, and laundry at a reasonable price (free cable too but I have no TV). It sure has been nice to have all these luxuries, but I think it is time for me to move on… we will see how I feel in the morning after another good night’s sleep.

By the way, Bar S RV has a weekly rate of $92 and a monthly rate under $200 (plus electricity).

We looked at all the parks available for our visit to the El Malapis NM and El Morro NM and this one was the furthest from the I-40 at a reasonable price. There is a train track right next to the park but no whistles so the train in not really noticed. It doesn't interrupt sleep or TV. When driving to the park entrance, one wonders where you are heading since it is behind a truck stop. The park is small but very orderly and extremely neat. Most of the sites were full of long term workers. We were very impressed by how neatly kept each site was. There were several long pull through sites behind the office for shorter stays. We never met anyone in the office since we arrived during their two hour lunch. The office is closed from 11:30 - 1:30, so we filled out the necessary form and paid through the slot! We paid $2 extra for 50 amp. The utilities are worked well. Sites and roads are gravel/dirt and all were level. The park wifi was outstanding. We would stay here again.

We paid the weekly rate of $105.00. Good water and electric. We could run both AC units with no problems. Site was clean and level. The park was clean and quite. This was. great place to stay while visiting the area. I recommend your first stop to be the visitor center at exit 85. They were full of helpful information. There is a lot to see and do in this area.

We pulled off at this RV park on a whim after we found out Red Rocks park was closed due to covid. It was a pleasant surprise! We got there after hours so we were able to just pick a spot. Sites were level and very wide, hookups worked great! Best part was the little dog run, my dogs really enjoyed that. The people were extremely nice and there was the sweetest lady sewing masks for visitors. We would definitely stay again!

This is a great site to pull over for the night or even more. Just off of HWY 40 and you can make reservation over the phone then they will have the park map and receipt ready for you at your spot on the orange cone to save your location. With Covid, this is a great contactless option. NOTE: be careful of the speed bump just before the park entrance, we forgot about it on our way out! Then you can gas up right at the two stations that were right when you turn to go to the park. Everything you need for hook ups right there! Cable hookup we found on the other side of the electrical box, lower to the ground. Great internet coverage. Pull through is awesome as well. Train goes through the back of the park very frequently but no horn blows and since it close to the highway, we heard minimal noise. We would have stayed another night but some cold and snowy weather was coming in so we decided to get ahead of it. Found it safe and there are some long term renters there too. Happy Camping!

Not much for amenities for a longer stay, but a great overnight stop. Easy in, easy out. Right off of 40. Pretty dusty. Great price for full hookups. Train and highway noise wasn't too bad.

hook ups and a pull thru. Good place to recharge. Easy access to Hwy 40. Desk clerk very helpful when we called to advise of a late arrival due to an accident on 40. She suggested Rt 66. Surprised more truckers didn't use that to get around the accident.
towards the back of the park, a little less cell, but strong wifi! Train is a bit louder at the back, and it's all gravel and dusty- but a great one night spot.

Typical clean desert RV Park off the hwy. Close to town and El Malpais Natl Monument. Clean restrooms and laundry area. They had a small gift shop and even sold ice! WiFi was decent, also. No picnic tables, etc. Somewhat narrow sites but long enough for any size rig to pull through. It was extremely windy during our stay so the park was dusty, as to be expected. Friendly staff and price reflects good sam discount. Would recommend and would stay again. (We camped here mid-April)
