Walnut Grove RV Park

Such an unlikely place for an RV park. The sites are tight, but the staff help you park in your spot with no problems. The staff, I give 5 stars. Really friendly. It's where we stay when we visit KC. Just off Johnson Drive in Merriam, KS, it keeps us from having to stay on the east side outside of I-410, or having to stay at KOA in Lawrence, KS. Beware, on race weekends, they add a surcharge which I think is BS cuz we're not into racing but the hotels get away with it and they've started doing that too. I don't like it but it's better than staying somewhere else farther away.

The RV Park is in a residential area, and is small. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Pro: proximity to KC, really friendly staff
Cons: sites are very tight with a narrow road in between them, making backing in really challenging. When you book online, the amount you pay depends on the length of your trailer. I paid the higher rate since we're 33 ft, yet the site we were placed in was too short for us. We backed all the way up to the fence and still had our kingpin hanging over the (already narrow) road. We were only there for two nights so didn't fuss over it. Sites were really tight at 90 degree angles. We got really lucky that the site next to us was open, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to get out.

Generally run down and cramped park. Wouldn't stay here again for the price.

Nicely located to shopping and restaurants. It is a small urban park located in a neighborhood. There are a few longer term residents. It has mostly back in sites with ample room between. Very quiet and away from street noise.

Most notable was how all the staff were so friendly and helpful. We had a pleasant stay, and would consider staying again.

This location is good for a stopover for the night and close to the city. It’s cramped and has some seasonal sites in a bit of disarray but the front desk was very helpful and friendly. Sites are on gravel and it isn’t picturesque but it was not horrible. Small tucked away location ok if you must stay close to DT.

Nice RV Park right in town. Walking distance to many restaurants. Visit Transport Brewery. This place has great beer, food trucks, and super dog friendly. Laundry and shower facilities are clean. Park staff are great. They even have a little camp store for those little things you need.
Now, let's go to the bad. No internet. Parts internet is OK sometimes. Not good enough speed to work. T-mobile signal suckes, too many trees for starlink.

We just stayed here one night but it turned out to be a lucky move. The RV park is small and it's easy to miss the it's sign. It's in a nice quiet residential area near the small center of Shawnee. But when we backed into our site (tight but level and gravel and a staff member came to help), we discovered that our frig and freezer was broken. The office gave us several numbers to try and my husband talked to two knowledgeable people. They spent a lot of time on the phone and one was able to get the necessary part and come the next morning! That kind of service is hard to find! The store was able to provide ice to get through the night. Thanks, everyone.

Tiny RV park but has everything you need for a night's stay. The dog run is not fenced which was a little disappointing. Close to everything you need.
