“tasty food since 1952”
The Branding Iron Restaurant celebrates California's ranching history with its decor and gets its name from the approximately 200 cattle brands that are displayed throughout the dining area. Owned by Kara and Greg Parle, the Branding Iron first opened its doors in 1952 and its 50-year-old neon sign of a cowboy branding a calf has been designated a historical landmark by the city of Merced. The Branding Iron has been in existence since 1952, and has been the subject of two articles by Sunset Magazine. It is known for its fresh fish, lamb, chicken, and beef entrees, particularly its savory prime rib. The Gazpacho, a cold Spanish soup, is made fresh daily, and is very popular. Their toasted Parmesan Bread, using sourdough rolls from a Basque Bakery in nearby Fresno, is also a specialty of the house.
