“Elvis's House, before Graceland!”
Due to the success of his first #1 hit, Heartbreak Hotel, Elvis was able to purchase a home for his family. He bought this house in 1956 for just over $29,000. The three Presleys lived there for just one year when an increasing need for privacy prompted Elvis to buy Graceland. The Audubon Drive house still stands today and has had eight owners since the Presleys lived there.
Beautiful house and the history of Elvis buying this house for his parents before moving himself to Graceland, made this a wonderful little gem. Looking at this house after seeing his childhood home and then on to Graceland made our trip complete.
Since Graceland seemed to expensive for a family of 5 - we drove to see Elvis’ humble 1st home lol. Great drive thru town to get here . Some of the most beautiful homes in Memphis are on this side of town. If you like driving and looking at houses you will enjoy.
If you are a fan of Elvis, this needs to be one of your stops!
