“fall in love!”

Copper Falls State Park is a 3068 acre state park in Wisconsin. The park contains a section of the Bad River and its tributary the Tylers Forks, which flow through a gorge and drop over several waterfalls. Old Copper Culture Indians and later European settlers mined copper in the area. The state park was created in 1929 and amenities were developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Works Progress Administration. In 2005 the park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a site with 10 contributing properties. Activities and amenities- Loon Lake: The lake offers swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and boating with electric motors only. Trout fishing can be found on the Bad River and Tylers Forks. Trails: The park has trails including a portion of the North Country National Scenic Trail. Trails are used for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. Camping: The campground has 24 sites with electric hookups. A camper cabin is accessible to persons with disabilities.

Nice private, wooded sites. Sites have gravel pads. Level. Pit toilets, but flush toilets available at office. Showers and flush toilets across from dump station. Easy walk to beautiful falls.

Two campgrounds in this state park - South and North but only a total of 56 sites between them, 23 of them with electric. Saw it was filling up even on a weekday in September so made a reservation but still could not get an electric site. Sites were generous in size and most has good separation with lots of trees. Nice hiking on the North Country Scenic Trail to Red Granite Falls and the Doughboys Trail to see the park’s namesake falls plus another and a cascade. We came from camping in Michigan State parks which are much nicer so we were a bit spoiled. My rating would have been higher if there was a bath house with showers in the North campground; the pit toilets were ok but it was too long of a walk to the south campground where there are flush toilets and showers. They were ok but not great (not as nice as Michigan State parks). Lots of hungry mosquitoes as it has not gotten chilly yet so bring bug spray! Very spotty cell service.

We loved it here. A great state park with beautiful wooded sites, quiet and isolated. We saw seven deer in one day and other wildlife. The beach at Loon Lake was beautiful. The hike to the falls worked for my beginning hiking family, two kids six and ten.

Copper Falls is a wonderful state park for camping! The park rangers are very nice and helpful. There is a good size lake, great hiking trails, and of course lovely waterfalls! The facilities are well maintained and showers are great. It’s a gorgeous place to visit. Ashland is close by for a day trip and there is much history in Ashland. Also, a very cool nature center near Ashland.
