Smith Island Inn is a small bed and breakfast centered in the charming town of Ewell on an isolated island in the Chesapeake Bay known as Smith Island on Maryland's Eastern Shore. We are the last inhabited off -shore island in the state of Maryland, accessible only by ferry boats. Most of our 225 neighbors work on the water as watermen, catching crabs in warmer weather and oystering in the winter months.The Smith Island Inn is opening for the first time in Summer, 2012 as a full service bed and breakfast offering a quaint simplistic charm, gourmet breakfasts, luxury linens, and a quietness in a peaceful setting that is rare to find in the modern world. Remodeled in 2012, it has all the most updated amenties while it has retained the orginial charm of its 1800's heritage. Once owned by the Island furniture-maker, the innkeepers have kept the orginial pine floors and staircase. Come stay with us and enjoy one of our tastefully decorated suites.
