“Experience Montana from horseback”
Welcome to Hawley Mountain Guest Ranch! Our ranch sits at 6400 feet in southcentral Montana, amidst one million acres of the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness. You’ll find us if you drive 42 miles south of Big Timber, the closest town. You might want to turn your cell phone off as you drive south of town, because reception doesn’t reach back in this remote part of the valley. Driving in you will see the horse herd to your left in the pasture, possibly drinking from our trout pond (we’ll meet there tomorrow for fishing lessons). Many rides will be offered on our furry, reliable 4-legged friends during the week. As you wind up the ranch lane to the right, notice the large barn and corral where you’ll go to meet your horse for the week. You will pass our 3 guest cabins before you arrive at the large lodge with the 4 guest rooms on the second floor. Make sure to look out those big picture windows in the lodge or sit on the rocks beside it for the view from the 300 foot rock face where the lodge sits, looking over the valley and the Boulder River below. You will see that we are surrounded by these enormous mountains within the Gallatin National Forest, and you will hear the silence – birds, breezes, and the river in the valley are the only sounds.
