Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on August 06, 2021After having a hectic week, the quiet and solitude of this place was a welcome change. Upper Payette Lake is a motor-less lake so the only craft we saw were canoes & stand-up paddle boarders. The lake was clear, the campground was clean and the local fauna (chipmunks & Jays) were the loudest things we could hear.

There are about 15-20 sites in the campground that sits on the west shore about half-way up the lake. They have no hook ups, but have pit toilets and a few potable water pumps. They are $10 for a normal and $15 for a companion (double) site (as of Jul 2021).
However, the entire west shore has dispersed sites before and after the campgroundā¦about 20 of them. They are first-come, and free.
No cell service until you get to the north end of Payette Lake (about 10-15 miles).
Several hiking trails start around the lake.
No wake lake, so paddle boards, kayaks, and a rowing shell were all the watercraft we saw.
Peaceful, great views, and relaxing.
By the way. The chipmunks will come right into your camperā¦ask me how I know!
