“fine Georgian period home”
All rooms rent by the month. Not operating as a B&B anymore. Aspen Hall Inn offers extraordinary rooms with private baths. Each room is tastefully and comfortably appointed with period antiques and reproduction furnishings and has cable TV and wireless internet access. The baths feature vintage fixtures. We are within walking distance of downtown restaurants, shops, & the train station. Guests share a dining room that is equipped with a microwave and a refrigerator. Our monthly rates are VERY reasonable. Also a great site for weddings and meetings, Aspen Hall is situated on seven creekside acres with a gazebo, pergola, patio, and a bridge over the creek. Built of native limestone, this elegant mansion, circa 1750, is one of the oldest and most historic homes in the Northern Shenandoah Valley. Its outstanding architecture has earned Aspen Hall the distinction of being "one of the finest Georgian period homes in the United States." Most of the original features of the 22-room house remain. The 13 x 38 foot grand hall still has its original 40-inch board-and-batten doors with their large strap hinges. The settlement was known as "Mendenhall's Fort" during the British, French & Indian War which started 250 years ago. George Washington attended a wedding here in 1761.
