The Mariposa Museum and History Center is staffed by volunteer docents and tour guides. Pre-arranged guided tours are available for large groups. Visitors may also take a self-guided tour.The center was founded in 1957. The purpose of this non-profit corporation is the discovery, preservation and dissemination of knowledge about Mariposa County and the State of California. The center presents an authentic picture of people and life in Mariposa County. The museum grounds include the 5 stamp and 2 stamp mill, counts residence, Mariposa Gazette, Blacksmith Shop, Broom Shop, Gold Panning, and the New Old Things.
