“swim with dolphins”
Bring your family to meet our family of dolphins and sea lions. Spend an hour or stay all day learning about these incredible marine mammals.Dolphin Research Center, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit research and educational facility, is funded by people who visit the facility to see the dolphins and sea lions, swim with dolphins, or take part in another program, as well as by those who join the DRC family when they adopt a dolphin or enroll in one of our other membership plans.
I was given the INCREDIBLE opportunity to swim with the dolphins here at the dolphin research center. Now it is expensive to do so and we did end up buying some of the photos. But it even made my sister smile (She isn't a smiley soul so we actually have a picture of her smiling finally.) It was AMAZING I will definitely not only keep this memory for the rest of my life. I Plan to also take every single Child I ever have here as long as their around to do the same thing. It really is Magical.
Normally, I don't agree with animals in captivity (yes, SeaWorld, I'm talking to you. I am one of those people). However, these dolphins have all been rescued, or were sent there to retire from places where they were held captive for years, not allowing them to be released into the wild again, as they likely wouldn't survive. Here, they are in a natural environment. Not a man-made pool. They aren't punished or secluded if they don't perform right. If one is getting attention, they all do.
They have educational programs that you can watch, as well, which is fabulous.
We did the "Meet A Dolphin", where you got to "pet" a dolphin and shake their hand, and then we did a dolphin splash after. Best experience ever.
Such friendly, beautiful animals and such great staff working here!
This was a really awesome place to visit. The care and love the trainers have for the animals is amazing. Everyone that works there knows every dolphin and sea lion by name and their history as if they have been there as long as the animals themselves.
On a few occasions we asked employees questions as they were passing by and they stopped and talked to us without issue.
We were there at closing and when we should have been leaving instead one of the trainers asked one of my little girls to help with some hand signals to the Dolphins while they fed and worked with them. The trainer also explained several more things to us while working with the Dolphins.
Would highly recommend stopping, seeing the amazing animals here and supporting the research program.
The Dolphin Research Center was definitely a little on the pricey side, but absolutely worth it. The staff was amazing and the dolphins were so interesting to watch (and be watched by). I would absolutely recommend this to everyone. My cousin and I paid to pet the dolphin and shake their fin and it was so incredible. It is also a pet friendly facility! It was so much fun. Definitely visit DRC!
