“1416-acre Indiana state park”
Clifty Falls State Park is an Indiana state park on 1416 acre in Jefferson County, Indiana in the United States. It is 46 mi northeast of Louisville, Kentucky. On Oct. 27, 1920, citizens of Madison, Indiana gave the land for the park, 570 acre, to the state of Indiana at the suggestion of Richard Lieber. This was after a year's work by the citizens.
Beautiful park with ten well-established hiking trails. The four spectacular waterfalls we were expecting to see were lacking water! We later discovered that the water runs only from December to June. Even with that disappointment, we enjoyed our visit. The drive through the park was lovely, and one of our hikes took us to an abandoned train tunnel that was open for exploring.
