“Experience how the author lived”
The original must have looked rougher, with it's "imperfect and sappy shingles made of the first slice of the log," but also newer when Henry lived there. The Concord Museum has some of the original cabin furniture on display. The interior of the Walden cabin replica includes a table, bed, desk, two chairs, the fireplace and a firewood box. The cabin probably had a closet.
The replica cabin near the welcome center at Walden Pond was very interesting. We took a quick peek inside to see what Thoreau's cabin might have been like. It wasn't much, but with the surrounding nature as beautiful as it is, I'm not sure much would be needed. It was a beautiful day, but not too crowded. A perfect stop!
Too crowded. Park rangers close entrance periodically to keep volume of people/traffic down. Sorry to have missed this.
