Village Creek State Park Campground

Electric & water sites were $15 plus $3/per adult daily park entrance fee.

Campground was nice, but not a large area, with one loop going through the campground.
Some sites had privacy with brush on the side, some not. There are tent pads, and ours was tucked back in the woods. There are picnic tables, lantern pole & fire pit. Our fire pit was on a lifted base with benches and not a lot of room for your own chair. It was very quiet during our stay, and bugs didn't bother us.

Bath house was outside of the campground on the road adjacent to it; kind of a hike for campers on one end. It was very clean though, with excellent showers. There are 2 shower stalls each having the little changing room before the shower, 3 toilet stalls, 2 sinks with large counter, soap dispenser, a hand dryer.

Area to access the creek was farther down the road from the campground. While we were there, parts of the park were closed due to flooding. We weren't there long enough to kayak, but accessing the creek to put your kayak or canoe in was down a sandy hill to the water's edge.

We liked the park, but were surprised by the numerous "no doing this" signs and the rule of no outdoor drinking in Texas state parks. After a day of travel, no beer by the campfire?

This state park has a lot of potential. Right now a good portion of it is closed due to flooding. This has apparently been the case for quite a while. From the maps you can see there are a lot of hiking and biking trails currently closed. So for that fact, I can only review what I experienced.
The spots are very small but level. The location is great. Beaumont is close and it's an easy spot off the highway. Only 30 amp is available so keep that in mind. Good for a quick stop over for sure.

Texas state parks charge $3/night per person unless you have the state park pass. This pass is well worth it if you're going to stay more than a week or so in Texas state parks. You can buy this at any state park before you check to immediately get your savings.

We spent a week at this delightful small park on the outskirts of Beaumont, Texas in the suburb of Lumberton. While much of the park was severely damaged by recent flooding, great steps have been made in restoring the park and all of the electric/water spots are open. However, the walk-in tent spots are currently closed.
The spots that are available are a little closer together than you will find in most state parks, but some are separated by thick growth and trees that provide a good deal of privacy. The spots are packed gravel and relatively level. They all come with a picnic table, benches, fire pit and raised tent platform.

Facilties are in good shape and well cared for. There is Wi-Fi in the park, however, it’s extremely slow (around 128kbps) so don’t rely on it for anything substantial.

The park has some wonderful trails through some primoridal bayou country. While you won’t get any great vistas, it’s quite peacful and beautiful land. However, don’t forget this is lowland to be sure, if it rains, the trails can get quite messy quickly, especially with the tracks from the repair vehicles. Be prepared for some messy shoes.

We stayed here on our way from North Texas to Sea Rim/the gulf coast. I had always wanted to see the famed "big thicket", and this state park is within it. I imagined the early settlers hacking their way through the thick underbrush, alternating with swamp and marshy areas. Our visit was a lot more relaxing. We spent a day kayaking up and down placid Village Creek, which is known as Big Sandy up-stream (or maybe downstream?). It's very very slow moving and easy to navigate in both directions. The site we chose was the furthest from the bathhouse, but the visitor center bathrooms are left open all night and are closer by. The towns of Silsbee and Lumberton are very close by for provisions. Also nearby is the Big Thicket National Park visitor center, which is worth checking out. WE did not hike any trails here. This is #42 of my Texas State Parks, and I'm not quite at mid-point - lot's more fun to be had!

Nice State park to stop by! Very clean and in a nice pine forest. Sites are private and equipped with water, electric ,picnic table a a fire pit. Easy to come in week days but the ranger told us that it's full for the weekend... Nice river to kayak in the park.

Simple check in, and we were allowed to select our own site.

While the campground is small, and kind of tight, many of the sites have trees around three sides.

Awesome State Park with nice sites and very clean bathrooms. Only 20 rv spots and the trails are still closed from the hurricane. Friendly Park Ranger. Very quiet.

Reconstruction after Hurricane Harvey is not slated to begin until the end of March so for now, only one campground loop is open (day use area closed) Each site had a grill pit, picnic table, benches, and a tent pad. Restrooms were clean (and had two showers). A little buggy due to all of the rain. Nearby train was loud but didn’t hear it in the middle of the night. Difficult to tell what it will be like when fully restored but for now, was sufficient for a one night stay before moving on.

We did a quick overnight stop here on January 24, 2018. Great little Texas State Park. Unfortunately when we stayed funding hadn't been received yet to start repairs from Hurricane Harvey(August 2017) and all hiking trails and amenities were closed. The staff was pretty friendly except when I disregarded the stop sign at the office after returning from a trip to town and was issued a stern warning by a park ranger. In my defense, I thought it was only for new arrivals needing to check in. Make sure you come to a complete stop! The sites were quiet and spacious some had a second tier where the picnic table and fire pit were. There is a free dump station for campers. Very close to town for any necessities. There is a pretty big hump going over railroad tracks on the way in if you have a low riding rig take it slow.

The campsites are pretty small and close to each other. I was there during a weblo camp weekend. Let's just say there was a lot of energy around. Nothing is open because of the hurricane damage. The bathroom/showers were nice and clean
