“Representing the arts of Kentucky”
The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft (KMAC) was founded in 1981 as the Kentucky Art and Craft Foundation. Since that time, KMAC has grown to represent thousands of Kentucky and regional craft artists in its retail and exhibition galleries, has initiated an education program to teach Kentucky school children about Kentucky’s art and craft heritage and has developed and expanded creative an innovative educational programs to help Kentucky teachers implement the state-legislated Kentucky Education Reform Act (KERA). In 2003, KACF moved into a newly renovated building on historic West Main Street in Louisville, Kentucky, and incorporated the name Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft. KMAC continues to fulfill its goal to promote the art and craft heritage of Kentucky, to support artists and educate the public through programming and exhibitions.
