“Largest amphitheater in the US!”
The Hollywood Bowl is a modern amphitheater in the Hollywood area of Los Angeles, California, United States that is used primarily for music performances. It is the largest natural amphitheater in the United States, with a seating capacity of nearly 18,000. The Hollywood Bowl is known for its band shell, a distinctive set of concentric arches that graced the site from 1929 through 2003, before being replaced with a somewhat larger one beginning in the 2004 season. The shell is set against the backdrop of the Hollywood Hills and the famous Hollywood Sign to the Northeast.
Saw the National here on 9/11/11, told my boss I was going to a concert for America. It was a phenomenal show, and for as much as I hate the LA heat, the valley cools down pretty well at dusk and it's super comfortable. Maybe spring for actual seats, though--the concrete benches are well and good, but your butt can only take so much.
In the game Grand Theft Auto V, Vinewood Bowl is an entertainment venus, north of Vinewood based on the real-life Hollywood Bowl in L.A. Premiere, iconic music venue.
Amazing sound, very diverse types of performers/performances. Parking isn't so great but very easy to get to off the 101.
Just a heads up-- parking can be a PAIN, and even if you just happen to be driving past it while a big concert is going on, you may find yourself stuck in even worse traffic. They have some really cool stuff, sing-along shows and orchestra stuff as well as major acts and bands. But yeah, the traffic.
