A former police car warehouse in Little Tokyo renovated by the noted California architect Frank O. Gehry, The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA (formerly The Temporary Contemporary) opened in 1983. This location offers 40,000 square feet of exhibition space and a branch of the MOCA Store. The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA is currently closed for improvements, reopening with Printed Matter's LA Art Book Fair Feb 1–3, 2014 and Mike Kelley on March 23, 2014. Closed New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
Everyone should visit the Contemporary at least once. Definitely less crowded, fantastic art, great staff, nice location - and guess what - free of charge to enter. LA at its best! Read more
