“tucked away in the rolling hills of Southeastern Ohio”
Although constructed in the early seventies, this massive pine beam and stone lodge captures the atmosphere and flavor of the grand park lodges built at the turn of the century. Salt Fork Lodge and Conference Center is tucked away in the rolling hills of southeastern Ohio, in Ohio's' largest state park. The lush wooded surroundings contain miles of hiking and horseback riding trails, large and healthy populations of deer, turkey, flowers, song and water birds all with a view of Ohio's largest state park lake. Conveniently located close to the intersection of Interstates 70 and 77, Salt Fork Lodge boasts 148 guestrooms, 54 cottages and eight meeting and conference rooms with a professional sales and catering staff. The lodge features indoor/outdoor pools, a Jacuzzi, game room, fitness center, gift shop, lounge, full service restaurant, basketball, volleyball, tennis, and family and children's activities. Cottages sleep six and include their own kitchen, fully stocked with cookware and utensils, bath, living space, screened-in porch and breathtaking views of Salt Fork Lake.
this place is amazing and cheaper than a normal hotel. stayed for 2 nights & had a blast.
Beware staying at Salt Fork! I have to give this lodge the worst possible rating. The room was filthy, with a piece of half eaten candy on the table, and dirt crusted in the corners. Worst of all, the bathtub mat had some black mold around the edges, so my wife started to pull it up and GROSS! Underneath it was mold, slime, hair, and congealed bodily fluids! Who would want to take a bath in that? NASTY!
Other than that, the desk clerk had the usual attitude and incompetence we have come to expect from our state park lodges, and the restaurant was just mediocre, with the food being poorly prepared and the table in disrepair, almost falling over. On a good note, the lady running the gift shop was friendly and competent. This will be our LAST visit to what used to be our great state park lodges!
