“America's true pioneer man!”
Nestled along the Nolichucky River, Davey Crockett State Park is perfect for a serene outing. There is a great camp ground with RV hook-ups/electric. A family pool & rec area and numerous picnic sites shaded by beautiful old trees. There is good fishing as well. Although the cabin is not the original, it IS authentic & true to the era. There is a group known as the Friends of Crockett which holds regular events (in period costume). You can swim in the river as well. The area by the park is calm with some small shoals, but no rapids. Perfect for a lazy day of tubing! If you are looking for a more quiet and serene location to picnic or camp...Davey Crockett is the place to go!
Great Park. Easy to find. there is a campground right there, nice walking trails, a nicely done remake of the homestead. It was a nice walk back in time. There is a visitor center, restrooms, and no fee.
Beautiful park, nice visitor center. Would be a great place to camp. We stopped in for the history. Nice to see the river and locale where Davy was born.
We spent the day here and it was a very nice state park. There are plenty of shaded camping spots with the river running nearby. When we went the river was raging so there was no one swimming or kayaking on the water. We went on a scenic hike through the woods, it really just a dirt trail but was very pretty. It would be difficult to walk if you have any type of climbing problems. At a couple on points on the trail it is very steep. All in all it was a beautiful area.
Nice little visitor centre and attractive park.
I tent camped there and had a good experience. It was on grass which is my favorite surface. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful. They have a trail that overlooks the river and some information on Davy Crockett in the museum. They have showers too. It costs $15 to tent camp without electricity. It was quiet at night; I did not here any road noise from road warriors since it's not near an interstate. It's in the foothills of the mountains and is not that scenic, but pretty enough.
