“Third highest point east of the Rockies”

With a summit at 7,064 feet, Terry Peak in South Dakota is the third highest point east of the Rocky Mountains in the continental United States. Reaching this elevation means the mountain can get up to three times as much snow as anywhere else in the region. Terry Peak also has high-tech snowmaking equipment that can blanket 60% of the mountain with man-made powder—ensuring the conditions are great all season long. In 1936, the Bald Mountain Ski Club was the first to use the mountain as a recreational ski hill. Back then, a rope tow took adventure seekers to the top. Today, there are three high-speed chairlifts that get skiers to the top in just a matter of minutes.
