“World Famous Sign”
The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign is a Las Vegas landmark funded in May 1959 and erected soon after by Western Neon. The sign was designed by Betty Willis at the request of Ted Rogich, a local salesman, who sold it to Clark County, Nevada. The sign is located in the median at 5100 Las Vegas Boulevard South, north of the historic stone pillars of the old McCarran Airport on the east side, and across from the Bali Hai Golf Club and the (closed) Klondike Hotel & Casino on the west side. Some consider the sign to be the official southern end of the Las Vegas Strip. The sign, like most of the Strip, sits in the town of Paradise and is located roughly 4 miles south of the actual city limits of Las Vegas. (Such distinctions are usually ignored by both locals and tourists, who refer to the entire metro area as "Las Vegas".)
If you're nearby, you just have to have your photo in front of the iconic sign! There's a parking lot in the median on the south bound lane only.
The stop here made the .99 key chains souvenirs we got look cool.
do it in the morning at around 11 than the light is really neat. Can be a long line sometimes but you can also just do your shot from a side angle
Our wait was longer than I expected.. However, the value of having our picture by this iconic sign was higher than I expected too. Do it!
You have to have your picture taken here or did you even go to Vegas! Just a little tip - Go in the morning early to avoid waiting. It has a nice parking lot and I heard after we went that there is a live web cam there as well.

Old school Vegas sign. Crazy popular so go early and not so hot outside. It's a must see when you go to Vegas.
During the day there's a long line to take pics in front of the sign. Be prepared. Great photo op though!
Wait lines can be long if you want good picture with the full sign. If you don't have the time, you can step off to the side and take a picture, but you will have others in the background.
