The Root Cafe

Our building is a historic gem with architectural and craftworking wonders!  We were ecstatic to uncover the original features after the Phillips Vacuum store moved out, of which we added our own craftwork and character.  From hand made tile on the walls, to hand made recovered wood chair rails, book case and benches, to the concrete counters, our space has become a work of art in and of itself.  Many local craftspeople have put their skills to work to make our cafe a warm, fascinating and enlightening place.  We procure much of our food from local producers, some of it even from our friends backyards!  Enjoy exotic heirloom varietals and in-season specialities with a contemporary twist.  Our vegan baked goods are made to perfection and are often a pleasant surprise with their delicate and moist textures.
