“helping preserve traditional Catholic art”
The Museum of Divine Statues is designed to pay tribute not only to the art and history of Cleveland's Catholic churches, but to the city's immigrant roots. The Museum of Divine Statues opened April 10, 2011 in the former home of St. Hedwig’s Church. It is the vision of restoration artist, Lou McClung, who was passionate about creating a reflective and reverential space where ecclesiastical statues could be displayed. His mission to rescue and restore religious statues, many of which come from parishes recently decommissioned by the Cleveland Catholic Diocese, will help preserve the history of those churches, as well as traditional Catholic art.
