The Black Hawk State Park campground is a large one. It will accommodate 128 camping units, including 89 campsites equipped with electrical hookups. The campground features modern shower and rest room facilities. Nearby, a Frisbee golf course is available for some fun-filled exercise. A volleyball court and a large playground facility also offer lots of fun opportunities for campers, young and old. Advance campsite reservations can be made through the park reservation system. Half of the campsites are still available for self-registration on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Nice park on a small lake outside a small town. Worth a detour off Hwy 20. Our site was one of many right on the lake. Nice clean restrooms with hot showers. Recycling available. Good quality as we have found with other Iowa state parks. Very quiet. Nice

I have never been to Iowa. I was driving through to get to Minnesota. I think the State is absolutely beautiful, with rolling hills of crops, green fields as far as you can see, wind turbines, deer everywhere, in and by the road during the day. Then I get to Black Hawk state park… and Wow what a disappointment. The spots are so close together that if I had a neighbor their door would be like 6 ft from mine. Electricity and water are set up so that you have to face your neighbor. Great if you are in a group! But I am not. Electricity and water were fine is the only reason that I give it 2 stars. I have a Dually with a 41 ft 5th wheel and the driveways through the park are so tight that on 2 separate occasions I was very close to hitting trees as I was passing through. I thank God I didn’t hit one. I will never stay here again!
