Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on May 10, 2023The Klamath River RV Park really is “right on the river” as it advertises. The river view is spectacular and its beauty seems to change based on the time of day. Sites are spacious, well-kept, have fire pits, and the amenities are great.
The park is also 9 miles from the Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park Visitor Center and 30 miles to Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, two of the best parks for hiking and enjoying the redwood trees! Not the mention, the drive from Klamath to Jedediah Smith was one of the most scenic drives we’ve ever taken because you go from views of the coast one minute to tunnels of towering redwood trees the next.
Also nearby the RV park are some awesome beaches. Klamath Beach, Wilson Creek Beach, and Crescent Beach. Klamath Beach is best for sunset and very close to the RV park. You can watch the sea lions fishing near the rocks right off the beach.
Another great spot in the area is the Klamath Overlook. From this spot, you’ll be able to see where the Klamath River meets the Pacific Ocean and you may get lucky like us and spot some whales and bald eagles too! Surprisingly enough, this was also one of the best spots to get good cell service in the whole area! We spent an entire day up there working because it was tricky to find good wifi in Klamath.

This is a great location for visiting Redwoods National Park and Klamath. It's also only about a 30 minute drive to Crescent City. The river sites have beautiful views. The sites are very close together if the park is full, but thankfully they space out the RVs if they're not full. So the sites on either side of us were empty giving us a little bit of breathing room. The check-in process was easy and the hosts are very friendly. I didn't expect to have any cell coverage there, but Verizon actually worked with 3G and with a booster we had 1 or 2 bars of 4G. The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars is because of the "kid tax". That is what our community of fulltime RV families call it when a park charges extra for kids. This park charges $4 per day per child. We have 2 kids so we had to pay $8 extra per day. For a family that has more than 2 kids this could get very expensive. It seems unfair to charge extra for our kids that stay in our RV. There are certain parks that we don't mind paying extra for kids if the park has kid-friendly amenities like a bounce pad, playground, mini-golf, etc. However, this park has no amenities for kids so I don't think they should be charging extra for kids.

Great people, great views, huge showers, horseshoes, ping pong, a coffee shop, and perfectly located for exploring Redwood NP. What more could we ask for? We paid 10 bucks extra a night to look at the river from the camper. We loved driving down the road to the shore at night to beach comb and watch the sunset.

This is still our number one place to stay after touring the US for a year! Amazing views. A mile from the ocean and non stop seals and sea lions. An exit from being in the redwood forest!
The campground is absolutely wonderful... Camping looking out over the river, behind you... the mountains.
Gary and his team are so hospitable and make you feel so welcome. Free coffee is ready for you all day long. Fresh baked cookies and muffins are baked each day... Nice clean laundry room and showers.

We came down 101 from Florence Oregon and stayed here for 5 nights in site #75. WOW, what a great experience. Our site was a back-in and as we sat under our awning, we looked at a magical river scene. We took day trips to the ocean and the redwoods. The management was helpful and even gave my husband directions (via his cell phone) when he got turned around on a long mountain bike ride. We are coming back for another 5 night stay this September and bringing friends this time.

This is a beautiful camp right on the Klamath River a couple miles upstream from the Pacific. We had a site with a river view which was $10 more than non-river view sites. Had a beautiful view of the water out the front window, but I think you can probably see the river from all sites. Good cable and satellite. Wi-fi was OK. Park wasn't very full in early May, so we were spaced out but in season might feel a little tight side to side. The river sites have a lot of open space in front.

There are plenty of RV Park options in this area and for this stopover I choose the Klamath River RV Park. Why you may ask…well, RIVER VIEW, RIVER VIEW, RIVER VIEW!!! Spectacular nature … I truly felt like we had stepped back in time, to a pristine area, unspoiled by humans. The park doesn’t have big amenities like a pool or a hot tub but they do have a very nice little cafe that serves espresso drink and pizza once the season is fully in swing. They also have big communal fire pits, horseshoes, a ping pong table and a great pet friendly walking trail. Want to fish the river…you can do that from there as well or launch a kayak or canoe or float down the river. I will say the river was high and moving very fast when we were there in late April so launching a kayak or canoe would have been an adventure!
There is so much to do in this area and Gary, the owner is a wealth of information. Just know there aren’t many restaurant or grocery stores nearby, so stock up the frig before you come....Crescent City is 23 miles away and is worth exploring and going to for lunch one day.
The hiking in the Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park is awesome...we liked it much better than the Del Norte Area. Fabulous stopover on our 7 week Hwy 101 Road Trip.

We paid $55 per night for a riverfront site (worth every penny), which is a $10 premium over the other $45 sites. The site was about 20-25 feet from the river with a view of the bridge located upstream. When the campground was already nearly full, Gary, the owner, expended some effort to get us into a site that is adjacent to some friends that we were meeting there and delivered a couple of UPS packages to our site during our stay. Great service all around!
The grassy sites are green and lush. The internet was reasonably consistent, but weak; good for emails, but not for moving large files or looking at complex websites.
Sites are close together, but there is lots of room in front of the sites to spread out around the picnic table that is provided and view the river and other scenery.
There is free coffee at the coffee house, and premium mixed coffee drinks are reasonably priced. Each pedestal features double 30-amp plugs, so if you have a double 30-amp to single 50-amp adapter (the owner has one you can borrow), you can pull 50 amps into your rig.
Only two downsides. First, detergent and bleach destroys the helpful bacteria in the septic system, so dumping of gray water from your washing machine is allowed. The laundry room is clean and comfortable; $2/wash and $2/dry.
Second downside: No AT&T service in the campground or town of Klamath; nearest service is in Crescent City, a 30 minute drive. Verizon users reported having service.
The location is a short drive to Crescent City to the north and the Redwood National & State Parks segments to the north and south.
We look forward to staying at this campground (one of our favorites) again!

Stopped in for a one night camp. Clean park, managed well, friendly. Will mark this for our next trip to the coast. It is a turn off from the 101, making it a quiet, tree surrounded retreat, on the river.
