The Sun-Maid girl trademark was inspired by a real person–Lorraine Collett Petersen, who in 1915 lived in the Fresno, California area where the company began its operations. Life then was simpler, less hectic—and red sunbonnets were the fashion of the day.

Home of the Sun Maid Raisin and dried fruit! A Must-Stop place for any California road trip!

Fun little stop. They had a few photo spots like the world's biggest box of raisins, a huge Sun-Maid girl, and a raisin box cut-out you can stick your face through. Also, a cool store with a big variety of Sun-Maid products - perfect for a long road trip snack!
