Hualapai Mt Park Cabin #2 was filthy. Walls were covered in soot. I don't know the last time they were actually painted...it's been years! Blinds were missing on the windows. And the few that were on there were dirty & broken. We had to use our own blankets & towels to cover the windows. One light didn't work in the cabin. Cigarette butts were scattered around outside the cabin. The grill was full of used charcoal briquettes. We didn't use any of the fire pits or places. The bathroom was depression era...sink was rusted out. I wouldn't use the dark tiny shower. The vent on the water heater cabinet was broken...dangerously so! It was a big disappointment & certainly not worth $100 a night! Especially since you provide your own towels & bedding. This cabin has been neglected & is not well maintained.

It looks like the RV park was just blasted out of the hillside, so it's very barren, just nasty gravel on the ground with some rustic fences decorating the perimeter and separating the very narrow (20') RV sites. It felt to us like we were camping in rock quarry. If you're lucky, the wind will stop blowing. It's a fairly steep (9 miles?) uphill climb to get to the park, but big rigs can do it. The mountain views are nice...lots of rock formations. Also hiking trails, mostly steep. It is extremely quiet at night and no lights to distract from star-gazing. We took a walk around the tent and cabin campgrounds, and they are much more natural, with interesting trees and huge boulders. If you have a smaller RV (don't know the exact size limit), you can go to the Pioneer RV section of the park....we saw the steep road leading to it, but never got to the place itself. We did see deer and elk, right in the campground. If you are part of the off-road vehicle culture, you'll love this place, as there are several "roads" for this activity. The ranger station has a beautiful stuffed black bear next to the fireplace. We would not return here because of the negative things cited here, but I put some positive stuff too, as it may appeal to others.

Beautiful scenery and great hiking. Pioneer RV Park was up the hill in a shaded area but still had sites that were way too close for our liking. The RV spots near the entrance were way worse (basically a parking lot). Camp hosts were very nice; other guests at the 9 sites at Pioneer mostly long term stays and also nice. A great park and great hikes just 3 min walk from campsite. To find a beautiful pine forest up a mountain in the middle of the desert is a gem.

This county park wasn’t far off the main road in Kingman and a great fine. We stayed on a Monday night in early May and there were only a few other campers. Our Sprinter van could fit in any site so we chose one with a great view.

Lots of good walking/hiking trails. 8 deer came into our campsite at dusk.

I have a 28ft TT. Rangers said the park was built when the trailers were much smaller, therefore, there aren’t large enough sites for larger TTS. I did see at the trail head, about for TTS, and then another which, IMHO, would be a heck of a parking job. I was parked in the upper section across from the park. A regular to the park (keeps his 5th wheel there all the time; visits when weather gets warm in the valley below) said the county built this upper section which is outside of the woods and has full sun) several years ago, and missed on sizing and location of waste connection for the back-in sites. I didn’t really check the pull-thrus. I had to do the slinky move when dumping, and it was a good thing I had extra hoses to reach, about 12 ft and 20 ft to my kitchen grey water dump connection.

I really liked the hikes up the mountain. The climb near the top (I lost the trail to the top) was 1,000 ft above the 6,750 starting altitude. You can also get good exercise just walking the road to the cabins and tent camping sites.

Cell service for AT&T and T-Mobile is minimal. Streaming on either was a high and low of buffering and an occasional hiccup. No local Wi-Fi.

I had no reservation but got a spot for two days. $50 for a night seems a bit too high.

I came here because it looked like a great place to car camp with my tent. Cabins, RVs and tents all in one location. Pictures looked nice. And honestly, if I were there for the cabins I probably would have been content.

There are 14 listed tent sites spread throughout the park. Half of them are in the Pine Basin area. I'd considering that entire area 4x4 country. Honestly, I was stupid to take my Kona into that area looking for a spot and it was probably dumb luck I didn't get stuck. I don't think there was a level spot in that entire section.

In the rest of the park the tent spots do have some gorgeous views. Provided you don't want shade. Or if you want shade, you don't mind camping in what looked to be a wash 1 good drizzle away from giving you a rafting adventure. I was able to find 2 spots with shade that looked decent, that were level, and didn't look like I'd float away. One was occupied with what turned out to be a wedding party (congrats!) that later returned for a night of camping.

The ground was hard enough that I wasn't able to properly stake out. Not only that, of the stakes I did get to an acceptable depth 1/3rd were bent in doing so. Not unusable, but certainly not my primary choice going forward. On top of that there was an odd slab of concrete near the level area I was placing my tent. Turns out it is where the fire ring used to be. I know this because on one of my short hikes around the park I found a fire ring + concrete slab at the base of the hill that the wedding party had camped at.

Finally, Campendium lists toilets as being flush. If you rent a cabin, I'm sure they have flush toilets. If you rent the day-use, group recreation areas they have flush toilets. Tent camp areas get a port-a-potty at about 1/2 mile intervals.

I know, this is roughing it. And, honestly, I agree. However, I am purposely heading out for developed campgrounds w/certain amenities as that is where my comfort level as a neophyte camper is. Based on the Campendium entry & the web site for the location itself what I expected, and what I found were at severe odds with one another. If there had been reviews or indications that the tent area was more on the undeveloped side I would have given it a pass for another location.

If I had to hazard a guess, I wonder if the Flag Fire in April'21 which came close to the campground has much to do with this? The roads on the map handed out to campers and the roads in GPS don't match. I can see where the GPS roads were, but they're not there now. There were a lot of burnt and felled trees. Maybe they have worked on getting the RV/Cabin areas up to acceptable levels and the tent areas have been left for last? I don't know.

I'd like to come back and rent a cabin at some point. But I'm not going to camp here again.
