“Mother lode of mother road memorabilia”
Inside and out, the Hackberry General Store is a museum of old Route 66. Though no gas is sold, vintage pumps punctuate the storefront. Mobilgas' Pegasus leaps from the roof, and the Greyhound dog welcomes bus travelers. Inside, visitors can try on Route 66 clothing, pick up Route 66 trinkets, walk through a vintage diner, and even have a bottle of Route 66 Beer (root beer, not beer beer). Virtually every trinket bearing the Route 66 theme, from neon to key chains, can be found in the store.
In response to SurfSwitch... it's not like the highways in this area are less dull, why not at least get a cool stop in! The lady working was super super friendly, and the place was just how you hope it would be. Still functions as a general store for many of the rural people in the area. It would be a shame to do a RT66 trip and not stop here.
I've driven by the Hackberry General Store twice in the last few years. I finally had a chance to stop by with the family. It's a great little store with a lot of nostalgic displays around there store. Well worth the stop to stretch the legs and a snack.
I loved the stop here, it was on our way having come from Lake Powell and the Grand Canyon and heading for Vegas... A great stop for anyone doing a Route 66 trip and looking to take some awesome pics, and pick up a souvenir or two...
This is the “Real” Radiator Springs!
If any of you have children who like cars, they might love this.
The owner was incredibly nice.
The amount of historical items to look at is worth the stop.
The store is full of memorabilia, gifts, and set pieces to give you a real gaze into the past of Route 66.
They even had a cute, tan cat the gave us a tour around the yard!
This was by far one of my favorite places on our trip!

Lots of cool old signs and broken down cars. Slightly overwhelming/claustrophobic on the inside.
Cool stop on route 66. Stop by to look around and stretch your legs, take some cool pictures, or pick up a souvenir or something to drink.
Definitely worth the stop
Absolutely worth a visit. Outside are vintage cars and signs. Inside the store there is an eclectic mix of cool memorabilia and things to buy - everything from apparel to home goods to signs. Some of our coolest pictures are from this spot!
As a photographer who loves rusty old cars and nostalgic signs and scenes from the by-gone era of the great Route 66 this place is amazing. I spent a good afternoon there, got some great shots and wandered. It's on my list to stop by again on my next road trip adventure. So much to see and the people who own it are great.
Awesome stop along Route 66. My family and I stopped here and and really liked the place. The inside of the store is amazing with all the Route 66 memorabilia that you could image. I picked up an awesome US Route 66 metal sign for my garage. If you find yourself passing by, do yourself a favor bs stop in.
