“comfort and quality”
The city has most recently been in the spotlight for the mid-'90s discovery of a skeleton that challenged archaeological assumptions about early North Americans and nearby nuclear plant, Hanford. Mostly a working town, Kennewick's convention facilities and numerous hotels have made it attractive for conferences and other events in this uncrowded and mostly rural part of the state. The city has a handful of tourist attractions like museums and galleries, an array of parks, a number of golf courses, and a selection of dining options to suit most palates. Kennewick is the heart of Washington's wine country, so a trip to a winery is a must. Rare for Washington, the area boasts 300 sunny days per year making it a favorite spot for outdoor enthusiasts. Sightseeing opportunities in Kennewick are plentiful and diverse. Tourist attractions include museums and art galleries, amusement parks, National and State Parks, historical places, sporting events and festivals. If attractions aren't what you're looking for you can spend a day taking a scenic drive on one of the Kennewick area's beautiful byways, back-ways, or historical routes exploring the diverse wildlife and scenery.
We read a lot of reviews before booking at Kennewick Suites. All of the unfavorable reviews seemed to be older than the good reviews, so we took a chance. We were only in town for the night, just passing through, anyway. It was worth a shot.
We were very happily surprised! This is an older building that was never built to be a Hilton, so the new owners have done wonders! Our suite had a kitchenette, as well as a small seating area near the TV. My bed was firm, which I like, but my son didn't like his so firm -- that's just personal preference though. There was a cool mural on the wall, and they redecorated in a modern way, using what they had to work with, and I think they did a great job.
Now, for the staff. I've never had such a warm reception, from nice and helpful people, in a discount hotel. All of the staff -- evening, late night, and morning -- were great. We will stay at the Kennewick Suites whenever we're passing through town, and I highly recommend it to anyone. Also, the WiFi was fast. No problems there.
No idea what the current picture is from, but I was slightly disappointed by this place. We got there and first of all had a hard time getting into the key locked door (as other guests were also outside complaining about). We reserved two rooms. Since we had a dog, one of the rooms was a "pet room" which smelled like one for sure. Inside the pet room we found old coffee already in the pot and two Styrofoam cups upside down, not wrapped, on the counter. The place didn't strike me as particularly clean and in the bathroom they actually had taken floor linoleum and used it to repair a portion of the wall. It wasn't unbearable, but definitely not pleasant. The second room didn't have old coffee, but the unwrapped upside down styrofoam cups were there. Both rooms came with kitchenettes, yet had no utensils or anything. The staff was not helpful, not mean...just not helpful. If you're looking for a cheap place, it's okay to stay in, but I think I would try somewhere else next time.
his hotel was more than we expected! Clean hotel and friendly staff; especially the lady who took care of the breakfast area; wish I would have gotten her name. Rooms were large, beds were comfortable and we even had a small kitchen. Pool area was nice and clean, loved the patio which had a grill for cooking out. The price for the room was low compared to what we had! We will return next year for our family visit.
