“Preserving the cultural history of Shoshone County”
The museum occupies a two-story American-revival style house constructed in 1906 for Stanly Easton, a Bunker Hill and Sullivan Mine Company executive. The Bunker Hill was one of Idaho's largest employers for most of the company's 94-year existence. It opened in 1986, has twelve rooms of exhibits, a gift shop, outdoor displays including a 73.5 ton Nordberg air compressor, and restrooms. The museum is adjacent to groomed bike trails and close to the Silver Mountain Resort's gondola base. Each year the museum creates a new theme room. The mission of the museum is to preserve the mining, smelting and cultural history of Shoshone County.
Disappointed!
We tried for two days to go see this museum!! Hours online and in road trippers is wrong. But it doesn’t matter because even the hours on the sign weren’t right!!
It has cool equipment outside, but that was it. So a big bummer. I wouldn’t go unless you get ahold of a real person.
