Really easy to get to off the highway. Designated spots for RVs - just follow the signs. Lots of semis were parked overnight and just another RV or two beside us. Close to Walmart, Target, a mall and lots of restraints. Right next to Kansas Speedway track.
Register at the service counter. Poof you’re done. Just passing through town on my way home. Stopped in KC to see a friend. Got into town about 6pm. Registered for overnight parking. Did some shopping. Great store BTW. Went to dinner with my friend. Came back around 10pm. Setup my truck camper and stayed the night. There’s a huge parking lot and you’ll see semis parked in an area off to the left as you drive in. Everyone was very friendly. I saw a police cruiser parked nearby when I got up around 7:30. Note this was early February 2019.
We stayed 7 nights while passing through town. Can’t be free. We were never bothered. Truckers are in and out but the noise doesn’t bother us.
A couple of people that appeared to be living out of their cars showed up for the last two nights, seemed sketchy but we didn’t have any issues.
The grass areas around have a lot of foxtail grass. Beware for your four legged friends.
The lot designated for Trucks and RV's has had its entrance blocked, and there is a sign that says 'No Overnight Parking'. When we arrived there were several trucks in the parking lot near the 'previously' designated Truck Parking area, and a couple RV's were in an adjacent parking area. Since this area has several large venues, a race track, a sports stadium, shopping/outlets, it's possible they only enforce the 'no overnight parking' when there are events in progress. We risked it, and parked near the other RV's. The lot was well lit, has a slight slope, but not too bad. We had no issues, and got a decent night's sleep. In the area you have restaurants, Target, Walmart, Sam's, Nebraska Furniture Mart, etc.
I called to ask if we can overnight, she said no problem just come in and fill out overnight form. Then she said she we can park anywhere as long as it’s in their parking lot and not by the “trucks” bc it’s no longer theirs. It was nice, quiet, clean and perfect! We went inside and the kids loved the animal displays and we were pleasantly surprised Santa was there and no line! Very nice people :)
Great stopover after a long drive. Filled out paperwork inside store and parked overlooking Cabelas sign at turn into area. Listened to live music from Wolf Creek Lodge until 9:30. Enjoyed watching lightning bugs do their dance. Well lit area…had to darken windows it was so well lit!
Great overnight spot, had to fill out paperwork inside. Really nice folks. Large area to park. Stayed 8/21/21.
A great and accommodating company. I got in after hours so I couldn’t fill out their paperwork like they wanted. I woke and picked up trash around the lot. Thank you, Cabelas!
As others have said, very accommodating, filled out paperwork, was told to park anywhere we wanted. There were a few big rig trucks & a couple class As. We parked to the far left of the lot. Lots of space & quiet enough to get a good nights sleep.
Called to confirm overnight parking still allowed. Went in store to fill out paperwork (name, phone number, Emergency contact, RV type, plate number etc). Told to park in any of front lots (furthest from the store). Lots of space to park, but not very level. Lot is very sloped, had difficulty leveling 37 foot class A. Would stay here again if in a pinch.
