“Guided Mine Tours!”
Located in Julian, California, Eagle and High Peak Gold Mine affords visitors the opportunity to step back in time into a real Gold Mine dug out of a mountain with picks and shovels more than a hundred years ago. Visitors are led through a tour of a level of tunnels in the mountain while being given a comprehensive explanation of the mining process. Cost is $10/person for adults with a discounted rate for children. Hours for the Gold Mine are from 9:00-2:00, and tours are led continuously throughout the day.
This mine provided a good bit of history about the area, and gold mining in general.
Went at night so finding the place was difficult, almost past the small opening in the side of the mountain. Be aware if you don't like bats don't go at night, they are very active and you'll be constantly ducking to avoid getting smacked by one flying over head. Definitely go and check this place out if you get a chance, well worth it!
Very informative. We were the last group that day. The owner knows about the history of this place as it seemed to be in family possession for decades, closed in between and reopened for visitors.
