“a cabin built after the Civil War”
The house, and now, lodge originally started as a cabin built after the Civil War. It was later converted into a small farm house. In 1996, Dave Shaffer and Liz Jones-Shaffer acquired the house and property and began renovating the house and restoring the property to wetlands and forest. Over the last 10 years the house was transformed into a rustic home surrounded by natural landscaping . The Lodge is constructed from wood, and stone collected from the local area. A stone courtyard and entry and large timber–framed structure show the end result. Guest accommodations include 2 comfortable rooms with queen size beds, private bath, great views and private entry to the back deck. A “shared” great room includes a refrigerator, coffee pot, microwave, fireplace, and large screen satellite television. Facilities are also available for grilling on the back deck.
