“Arizona's Mile High Hotel!”
As the highest public building in the entire Verde Valley, the views from the Hotel are breathtaking. The restoration of the five story Spanish Mission structure started in 1994 by the Altherr Family and continues today. As the largest National Historic Landmark building in Jerome, AZ and at one mile high, the views from the Jerome Grand Hotel are breathtaking. Located near downtown, Jerome offers a unique experience stay with shopping, art galleries, entertainment, hiking trails, the Jerome State Park and much much more. For guests that choose our ghost hunting package, you will help us with our ongoing investigation of the supernatural and paranormal activities. As part of the ghost hunting team, you will be provided an EMT meter, IR thermometer and digital camera to help us document the spirits, orbs, ghost sightings, and haunted happenings at what may be one of the 10 most haunted places in America. As a haunted hotel, our ghost hunting tours offer a fun time for all ages. Ghost tour is $20 per person and guests receive 10% off their room rate.
I know it sounds nuts, but if you stay here request a valley view, not the mountain view! The hotel/town is built into the side of a mountain, which makes for AMAZING views of the verde valley below! If you love historic, old, and paranormal things, this is definitely the place to be!! The restaurant there is decent but more on the expensive side, Id recommend drinks if you go there, but I always opt for dinner at the Haunted Hamburger. :)
This fall I'm travelling with two friends who are competing in an Ironman race in mid November 2012, they are serious triathletes and paranormal groupies as well. I'm quickly becoming one myself and we've booked three nights at the Jerome Grand, I'll be sure to post some pics and stories after our trip. Even if we have no contact with any spirits the mountains behind the hotel look awesome.
This hotel really delivers on the overall experience in Jerome!
I stayed here two years ago, we didn't spend much time at the hotel but it was perfectly comfortable and historic, they have one of those old elevators with a gate that you have to open. The town was great, a bunch of chill spots to eat and drink. I went with friends that were competing in the Ironman race in Tempe in November 2012 so we spent the first night in Jerome before heading to Phoenix. The views in the town are incredible. That was my first time ever in a desert. My two friends are big fans of Tool and we went to Maynard James Keenan's 'Caduceus Cellars' where they distribute his wine. Definitely check it out you can taste whatever you want and take some bottles home.
