“A beautiful reclaimed wasteland”
The park has a history and origin different from that of any other Tennessee State Park. Utilizing grants from the state of Tennessee, the Appalachian Regional Commission, and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, the park was developed as a reclamation project in which abandoned strip mining pits were converted to recreational use. As a reclaimed surface mine Indian Mountain exhibits a beneficial use that can be made of land after such intensive alterations as those inherent in surface mining. Indian Mountain State Park currently maintains a campground with 49 fully equipped campsites, three picnic pavilions, and a large swimming pool. Indian Mountain Lake and several ponds in the park are stocked with catfish, bluegill, large-mouthed bass, and crappie to provide fishing opportunities. Pedal boats are available for rent on Indian Mountain Lake. Several athletic fields are located along London Avenue in the northeast section of the park. Two official walking trails meander through the park on both sides of Elk Creek. The Indian Mountain Lake Trail is a paved 1-mile (1.6 km) loop that wraps around the east bank of Indian Mountain Lake. The .75-mile (1.21 km) Ballard Lake Nature Trail loops along the forested banks of Ballard Lake.

Heading South from Ohio back to Atlanta and found this on the app.
Concrete pads and at least this area seems to be new. Full hookup — power, water, sewer — and a nice view of the lake.
Bathhouse seems to be clean and showers even have benches and a place to put shampoo and soap (why they all don’t is beyond me).
Would definitely stop here again.
Came in after hours so don’t really know the rate (around $30 I think).

After reading many glowing and positive reviews of this campground, we decided to check it out on a five-day camping trip.
The campground is small, with nice level sites on cement pads. All sites are full hook up. It's a great place for a quick overnight stay on your way elsewhere as it is only about 3 miles off I-75, but I just don't see it as a destination. There's just not much to do there. There are some paved walking trails around a small pond, paddle board and kayaks are available for rent, and there's a campsite that sells firewood, souvenirs, etc. (although they were closed while we were there due to COVID-19). There's also a playground. The shower/bathrooms were closed.
The local young populace seem to enjoy cruising their cars and trucks - all which seem to be missing a muffler - through the campground...there's a road that crosses directly through the campground that apparently is used by all the bored teens to get from one part of the Jellico area to another. There's also a local road (London Ave) that parallels the campground which is used to race ATVs and loud, mufferless, cars up and down as part of the local evening entertainment.
There is no privacy between sites in the campground, and there seemed to always be a barking dog belonging to some oblivious owner.
If you like sitting around in a sterile, manicured city park-like setting taking brief walks on blacktopped paths then this is your place. Otherwise, stay the night and move on to wherever you're going.

We stayed one night here. Level concrete pad, lovely lake and hill. We got a private police escort into the campsite at 10pm last night. The Jellico PD car swooped ahead of us on the road at the gate, and took us right to our site in the campground. Hows that for a very helpful and freindly campground? 3 miles off I75 at the TN/KY border. I would definitely stay again.

$18 for a primitive site just in my van for the night. This is your Nana’s Campground. Other than that, bathroom was locked by the camp store/paddle boat rental where I paid $18 to sleep.in a turn around where I couldn’t even have a fire. Usually it’s less than $18 for a weekend at any State Park where I don’t need hook ups. I’m sure management will address any concerns

Expected only water and sewer and was greeted with Full Hook-Ups, a concrete pad, picnic table, fire ring, grill, and a view of a pond.
Slides and swings for small children in immediate view, but far enough for a quiet afternoon. Paddleboats are a short walk from our site. All Trails shows two loops and an out and back.
Sites are generously spaced and partially shaded.
No WiFi. Good coverage with T-mobile. 4 TV channels.
Would stay longer, but merely stopped here to break up a long drive.

Indian Mountain State Park is located on the TN / KY border on I-75. It is a 203 acre State Park that sits on a lake at the base of a mountain. It's pretty new for a state park as it was started in 1971. The lake is beautiful and is apparently stocked with fish. This is a great place to stop if you are traveling on 75 and want to get a campsite. It's about 2.5 miles from the interstate.
There are 47 campsites with 50,30, and 20 amp service. Apparently, all the sites do have sewer hookups which was unexpected. The sites are also paved. They are all pretty nice sites but some are closer together than others. The problem is that the campground isn't very level. Most of the parking pads are fairly level but maybe unlevel front to back. Our site in 35 was a little nose high. There was a small amount of space beside the camper that was also paved. Personally, I don't really care when a pad is paved vs gravel, but I would rather have the pad in front of the camper paved if I had my choice. They do have picnic tables that are on a pad at all sites but they seem to be placed randomly around the site based on where there is a level spot. Ours is actually behind our camper.
There are multiple playgrounds around the area and one of them in the central area of the campground. Some are more updated than others. There are also a couple of pavilions. There is a basketball court, a volleyball court, and a few different short trails.
There is also an area just down the road called rabbit road ????? There were 2-3 primitive sites and a picnic area there. I think these sites are free but you can't fit in there with more than a 15-20 ft trailer at the max.
My preferred sites are 4 H, 3 (firepit right on the lake), 49 H, 8,7, 10, 23, 39,35

The office and staff could not be nicer. Pretty setting with good lake views. Surprising that so many people not staying in the park drive through the campground throughout the day. The sites are concrete but very narrow; however still work.
Turn at sign for the campground near a big funeral home, as our navigation took us to a street further on and could not make it over the steep railroad tracks, so had to turn around.
