“The lost lake of Jean”

Jean Lake, (or Jean Dry Lake), is a small dry lake 3 mi east of Jean, Nevada and I-15. It is in the Las Vegas Wash Watershed with the Bird Spring Range adjacent to the northwest, Roach Lake in the north and Ivanpah Valley adjacent to the south. Jean Dry Lake has been a filming location for several movies, including Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas and The Hangover.

We didn't have any issues finding the area but we couldn't get into the actual dry lake as the road isn't very car friendly. The amount of garbage and debris in the area make me unsure of venturing inwards as I didn't want to end up with a flat tire in the middle of nowhere with 3 kids. It's unfortunate as we were really looking forward to it!

This was difficult for me to find but the area is very cool. Wishing I had made it to the lake bed.

If you have an SUV or truck you'll be fine. The lake was pretty cool. Very empty and quiet. Seemed like the perfect spot for criminals to dump bodies. There's also a prison near by.
