“Named after the tumbling cascades”
Located northwest of Macon, High Falls State Park is named for tumbling cascades on the Towaliga River. Boat rental, ramps and fishing docks provide easy access to the park’s lake, known as one of Georgia’s top fishing spots for hybrid and white bass. Overnight visitors can choose from a spacious campground or lakeside yurts, which are like canvas and wood tents. Each yurt features a small deck, picnic table and grill outside, plus furniture, electrical outlets and a ceiling fan inside. During summer, guests may cool off in the park’s swimming pool.
Really pretty falls, short walk to see them. Campgrounds also but didn't use those. Bring cash for the parking if you are not staying there.
Great park easy to navigate. They even called to make sure I knew where I was going since I was arriving after the office closed. Very quiet good space between campsites. Nice playground for the kids. It was so dark at night it was the perfect getaway.
Gorgeous park with a few great trails, $5 parking for the day. Dogs welcome on leash! Excited to go back!
The state parks in North Georgia get a lot of love, but just one hour south of Atlanta, just north of Macon is a hidden gem, High Falls State Park.
A nice park with interesting falls. Actually better than they show on their site- more than just a dam. Camping area was nice. A little hard to find in the dark.
Beautiful falls and a short walk. Campground was lovely with spaced out sites and gorgeous hikes throughout the park.
We stayed here for one night on our way up to Cloudland Canyon in Georgia from Orlando. We got in around 3:30 and setup our pop up and camp and headed out to hike a trail before the sun went down. We did the tranquil trail that is 2.5 miles because the entrance was near our campsite. It was a great hike but not well marked. Head to the right and then stay to the left when you see the waterfall and bench down to your right. If you head right shortly after that it is a connector trail to the falls trail. Follow until you can take another right which will take you back out.
Cell service was good, showers and bathrooms were clean. The highlight of the trip was doing the High Falls Hike the next morning before we got on the road again. It is absolutely stunning and picturesque and a ton of photo opportunities!
$5 for day use parking and to see the falls/trails
great park very clean great camp sites
High Falls State Park is the perfect little getaway if you’re looking for a great park to camp at. The campsites were very good and pretty well spaced out. The views were absolutely breathtaking and the falls were a very short walk from the campsites. Showers and restrooms are on site which is a plus. We didn’t see much wildlife on our stay, but there was also a major cold front coming through which may have scared off a lot of the critters. We definitely would recommend High Falls to any campers out there!
