“Beautiful, Arc Shaped Shoreline!”
Evangola State Park's major attraction is its beautiful arc-shaped shoreline and natural sand beach on Lake Erie. Low cliffs of Angola shale line the edge of the beach. In addition to swimming, the park has picnic facilities, baseball and soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts, 80 campsites and a nature center in the campground area.

The shale cliff shoreline proved unique and the sound of the water peaceful. The main shower house was clean and one of the nicer of our trip. Our family recommends a stop at Evangola.
Beautiful sunsets over Lake Erie ....awesome camping
This campground is not far off the NY STate Thruway and easy to finds. There is no road noise from the Thruway, but a little from the main road.
These are open spacious sites overlooking Lake Erie. Most sites do not have a lake view. You cannot access the lake from the campground, but need to trek a good half mile or more along a bike path to the public beach. Unfortunately many of the Ash trees are dying and so the sites in the middle don't have shade any more. Your best bet for shade is camping on the outside of the loop, especially on the West side. The gravel pads could use refreshing. You don't want to park off the grass if there has been rain, since the ground is rather soft. There is electric at the rv sites (30 amp and 50 amp) and water spigots dispersed around the loop. The dump station is nearby.
There is a brand new bath house as well as some older ones, but very clean.
The tenting sites are rather odd. You need to off load your car at your site and then park in a parking lot. Doesn't make it easy to keep things in your car for safety. The sites have very little shade. It appears this has been remodeled but not the best in my mind for tenters.
The sites cost more on the weekends, more money for 50 amp, a $5 fee for out of staters, and $2.75 office fee for non-reservation

We have stayed here on the outside of the loop and on the inside right by the bath house. The outer loop is so spacious and wooded. Our kids loved they got to play in the woods right at our site. The inner loop doesnt have much shade or privacy.
As previous reviewer stated, you cannot get to the lake from the park. But you can walk to it. There are a few activities in the park like frisby golf.
Check in staff polite, price great. Dump not the best to get to, and the second time we stayed the park was full and the line up was huge.

Awesome views of the lake. Electric at site with water stations around the the campground. New bathhouse which is surprisingly very nice but sort of a drive to get there from your site. Will be back if stopping through again.

The outer loop is lined with trees, so lots of shade if you want or need it. The inner loop areas are almost 100% in full sun. All sites are flat requiring minimal leveling. All sites are electric only. No sewer or water at the sites. There are 2 dump stations. One is located at the check in station. The other is located near the back of the campground. The one at the back had a traffic cone over it and a sign indicating that it was out of order and to use the one at the check in station. Oddly, neither station had a fresh water pedestal, just a non-potable hose for cleaning sewer hoses and flushing tanks. The drinking water was scattered throughout the campground at fountains that also had spigots for filling containers.. About half of these did not work. We were on site 51 in the woods. It was gravel with grass growing up through the stone. It was slightly elevated above the rest of the campsite, but the campsite itself was soft and muddy due to a lot of rain. There are 2 bath houses. One is adequate. I've seen better. I've seen worse. The other bath house us newer and cleaner. It ha0d a laundry room, which was locked and filled with boxes. Cell coverage was poor for att and adequate to good for verizon
I considered giving this campground 3 stars, but most of the things I mentioned that were less than ideal weren't a major problem for me, so I gave it 4 stars. I would consider coming back.

We arrived late without a reservation and the office was closed. There were empty sites, but the park ranger told us that it might be best just to use the parking lot. Since we were only there overnight and didn't need hookups for that short period of time, it worked out just fine. Near the campground is a huge lakeside park that is well-maintained. Looked like a nice beach but we were there in the early morning and no one was in the water.

Access to the park is good. Beware of low clearances on NY-5 to the west of the park. There are several 12' 5" RR bridges. If you are coming in on I-90 get off at exit 57A, Take the Evans Center Rd to US-20, left onto US-20W and go about 3.9 miles to Cain Rd. Turn right onto Cain Rd. Cain Rd crosses the tracks at street-level crossings. Take the crossings slowly. At the end of Cain Rd turn left onto NY-5. The park road is less than a mile beyond that point.
Site access is generally good although most sites are blind back-ins. Avoid site 11 unless you have a small and nimble rig. We have a 37' fiver. We've been full-timing for several years and are pretty good at backing and maneuvering. At site 11 there is a ditch, a water point and signs directly across from this site. There is a sign on the left corner so coming in from the opposite way is not an option. It was 35 minutes of frustration.
The location is lovely. There are great views of Lake Erie. There are plenty of hiking trails and those trails connect to the beach section of the park. It is very quiet.
The bathhouses are clean and well-maintained. Because there was no sewer hookup and we stayed a week I used them often to conserve tank space. The sites are electric only.
We had a weak two bars of Verizon and no T-mobile. Often we were roaming into Canada on the other side of the lake. Fortunately we have plans that include Canadian coverage.
This is our second visit to this park.
