“nationally recognized seafood landmark”
Welcome to the Clam Box of Ipswich, a nationally recognized landmark, located approximately 30 miles north of Boston in historic Ipswich. We have been a New England tradition serving generations of families only the finest in fried seafood for over 60 years.
Built in 1938 by Mr. Dick Greenleaf, this unique structure and our food have been featured in many magazines and television shows including Yankee, Gourmet, US Airways, The food network and WCVB channel 5’s Chronicle just to name a few.
Although we don’t claim to have invented the fried clam we believe we have perfected it. Whether you eat in our comfortable dining room or out on our deck, you’ll be sure to enjoy the best fried seafood New England has to offer.
The food is great. I will never complain about the food. The fried clams, the lobster roll, the haddock, it's all delicious. But sometimes the line is just insane, and the prices are a little high for such casual fare. If you're willing to splurge and you're up for waiting in line, definitely go. It's good. But if you drive by and the line is practically in the street, don't feel bad for giving it a pass.
This is hands-down my favorite fried seafood place....on the PLANET! The fried clams, fried scallops, fried haddock and even french fries are just incredible.
Try the fisherman's platter! But you better come with an empty stomach! Fried clams, fried scallops and go for the fried haddock as well (when in Rome...)! The onion rings and fries are awesome too! :)
Best fried clams and "lobstah" rolls in the WORLD ... Bar none!!!
