“best place to eat in Iowa”
Words “Best place to eat in Iowa City is: The Mill, because they have the best vegetarian black bean burger within 100 miles.” – Quinn Dreasler , aka “Animal Mother”, of the Old Capitol City Roller Girls (Iowa City Press Citizen, 3/10/2011) “@mbenson6 it was the most fun we’ve had onstage in years, if not decades! great place, great peeps. we’ll def be back to Iowa City! xo” – Menomenatweet re: show 3/7/11 at the Mill History Keith Dempster opened The Mill Restaurant in 1962 as a coffee house/restaurant/folk music venue. It became the center of an Americana music community in Iowa City that achieved national and international fame. The Mill also became known for great pizza and sandwiches. Recent History In June, 2003 Keith and Pam, closed The Mill. The Mill was important to many people in Iowa City; where local landmarks have been replaced with cookie-cutter buildings and chain restaurants. On July 19, 2003 The Mill reopened, and we’ll keep it going as long as possible.
