“Learn about the Badlands”
The rugged beauty of the Badlands draws visitors from around the world. These striking geologic deposits contain one of the world’s richest fossil beds. Ancient mammals such as the rhino, horse, and saber-toothed cat once roamed here. The park’s 244,000 acres protect an expanse of mixed-grass prairie where bison, bighorn sheep, prairie dogs, and black-footed ferrets live today.
Cool place! We got our passport stamps and read about the history of the Badlands.
Nice modern visitor center in a beautiful National Park. Worth a drive thru if in the area.
The visitor center has a very cool paleontology lab with people actually working on fossils. It’s a bit crowded but you can get an up close view of the work and talk to them about it. Some rangers arrived with some recently exposed fossils while we there so that was kind of exciting.
This visitor center, even though crowded, was fantastic. The movie was good, and the staff was super knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommend this place. Very kid friendly.
Great visitor s center, and the exhibits were informative.
