“Observation Tower”
Climb this 106-foot converted water tower for an unparalleled view of the Des Moines River Valley and Lake Red Rock. You'll climb 170 steps to the viewing platform -- it's the tallest observation tower in the Midwest.
Very cool observation tower! Remember to bring some quarters as it cost 50cents per person.
The actual address is 1293 Emerald Ave, Otley, IA 50214
(Navigation took us to a nearby neighborhood). About 20 miles from i-80, so a little far for what you're getting. We went on a cold and windy day, so it would have probably been much more enjoyable if it was a bit nicer out. Dogs aren't allowed up the tower, but they are allowed in the park most other places on a leash. Pretty lake. Don't forget to bring quarters - it's 2 quarters a person and there isn't a change machine around.
A nice stop for panoramic views. Excellent picnic and hiking opportunities in the park. It costs 50 cents to go up the tower, and the view from the top is breathtaking. Be sure to bring a jacket or sweater if it's a windy day, and fair warning to people who are afraid of heights because the fiberglass stairs leading up are very safe but also have small gaps that let you see just how high you're climbing.
