“a peaceful setting of unspoiled natural beauty”
In the heart of the Ozark Mountains and cradled by the bluffs of the War Eagle Creek, Withrow Springs State Park is a peaceful setting of unspoiled natural beauty and many outdoor recreational choices. Camping enthusiasts will enjoy the park's campground nestled in shaded woods that reflect the seasonal natural beauty of spring, summer, fall and winter in the surrounding hardwood forest. Choose from 30 Class AAA (with water, up to 50 amp service, and sewer hookups). Each campsite can accommodate either an RV and/or a tent. The campground also features a modern, barrier-free bathhouse. Since the War Eagle Creek flows through the park, this mountain stream's waters are easily accessed for outdoor recreation on the water. Canoeing is a popular activity and floaters can put in at a point on the creek inside the park. Enjoy a leisurely float and take in the natural beauty of the surrounding Ozark Mountain scenery. Go float fishing for catfish, bream, perch, or bass. Canoe and kayak rentals are available in the park by appointment as these rentals are dependent on the War Eagle Creek's water level. Check with the park on flow levels and to reserve your canoe or kayak.

We camped in mid-November. Campground was nearly full on the weekend, but very sparse through the week. Water and sewer hookups were fully functional through 26 degree nights (a heated potable hose would be recommended). The bathhouse was suitably clean and warm. Hot water for showers was good on weekdays, but fell short on a cold crowded Saturday night. Cellular service had no service in the campground (valley), but had ~ 2 bars on the hilltops on hiking trails. The longer hiking trail along War Eagle Creek would be risky for toddlers, or those with physical disabilities, but had very nice scenery.
The location is convenient to Eureka Springs, Fayetteville, and other Ozark points of interest around Huntsville. Huntsville is about 4-5 miles away, and has a nice small WalMart with a credible camping outdoor focus, and groceries. There are a few restaurants.

This is your standard Arkansas State Park. Most sites were level and long. I saw a few pull-through sites. Access was easy and location good in NW Arkansas. Full hook-ups and no issues with electricity. A few of the sites backed up to a two lane road. Not a ton of traffic, but for those that don't want to hear cars drive by, go to the other side of the loop. Bathrooms were clean and heated. They were the standard bathrooms. Some State Parks we have been to have upgraded bathrooms to be individual bathrooms. There were a few trails we hiked. Would be a few more things to do in the warmer months due to the creeks and rivers. The biggest inconvenience was no cell service and no wifi. While I'm not big on using electronics while camping, having the ability to communicate with other people (even across camp) or freedom of information would be nice. There was a storm that came through and it would have been nice to look up the weather. In today's world, it would be easy to add a wifi spot at the bathroom. Other than that, this is a standard Arkansas State Park. Nothing fancy, but nothing bad...but cell service.

We liked this park enough to return next month! We only had time for the Forest Trail, but will hike the others when we go back. The restrooms/showers were very clean. The park is clean. The spring fed stream that runs through the park is pretty. The RV sites have full hookups and are large. Staff was very friendly.
The reason we won’t give 5 stars:
1. The park is very long, so the pool and playground are far enough away from the campground that you must drive. (The road is a little too busy to walk it with children.)
2. Site 19 was perfect except they didn’t slant it enough. It’s almost perpendicular to the drive. We are only 26’ and got into it without a problem, but I would suggest a different site if you are longer. All other sites looked fine.
3. Highway 23 runs right behind one side of the campground and through the park. Passing cars would be very annoying if you were on that side of the loop. We were backed up to the wooded hillside. We could definitely hear the traffic, but it didn’t bother us on our side. Be sure you look at their map!
This park has NO SERVICE. That is a plus for me, but a negative for many. Cell service is available about 5 minutes drive out of the park. We have AT&T and Verizon.
