My husband and I used to camp here several years ago and we both remember this campground being so much better. I’m sad to say that Twin Mills has really gone downhill. The bathrooms were unkept and never clean. The lots could have been better maintained. However, we did see a help wanted sign out front. It could be that they are just short staffed and this is the reason for the uncleanliness.

Pros:
-Office staff very friendly
-Paved roads
-Pool
-Playgrounds for kids
-Nice shaded lots

Cons:
-Bathrooms unclean
-Lots poorly maintained

Dump station is open in the off season (October to March). Cost was $15 with my thousand trails membership us of dump station. Maybe would cost $20 if you did not have a membership.

We stopped here on our way to Michigan because we could stay at no cost as part of our Thousand Trails membership. We did not research the area and really did not know what, if anything, we wanted to do in the area. I wish we had come more prepared! We did visit Shipshewana but there is so many other things to do in the area. Do your homework before you come here. We are planning to come back again sometime.

Our campsite was spacious and well shaded. We had full hookups. The laundry facilities were well maintained and every machine worked. The pool was crystal clear. There is a couple of playgrounds for children. There are bathroom facilities but we never visited them.

It’s a pretty park. It’s big and packed with rigs. I was inW56. The road is narrow and people have their trucks and garages coming right up to the road. However, however put this campground together was a genius because I very carefully slid my 43’ rig into the spot without needing anyone to move. The sites re good sized and the trees and posts are not blocking the entrances.

Good power and water pressure. TV reception is so-so and T-Mobile is 0-1 bar. Verizon and AT&T is 2-3 bars and stream just fine in SD. WIFI is paid and I hear it’s good but do not know first hand.

This is a TT Encore park so people do live here, but I did not see any rigs in distress. Everyone seems to take good care of their property. In fact, some of the lawns look like putting greens; really nicely manicured!

The camp was packed and I noticed there were a lot of long term campers. They can be rude! Why? Because they are not happy with a short term campers! Probably because they consider the camp spot as their own property (when I parked my trailer the guy with the trailer parked right across the alley was extremely rude with me when my pickup truck’s wheel touched the grass on his spot) ..... that was extremely unpleasant for me, thank God that I didn’t lose my temper, to ruin the entire stay!

Also, next to me I had a cabin with the AC unit running!🧐🧐

Probably is much better for the campground to have the cabins separated from the RV spots ... I don’t know 🤯🤯🤬🤬

If you're a Thousand Trails member, DON'T CAMP HERE! I don't think we've ever rated a campground 1 star in over a year of full time RV travel. We've stayed at 29 Thousand Trails campgrounds this year and this was by far our worst experience. We were booked for a few nights but left after 1 and even considered leaving in the middle of the night to the Walmart.

We showed up just after the office closed but they left our assigned site number. We drove back across the street to the other campground (it's split in 2 by the highway). The entrance gate was super narrow but we fit through and went down the long entrance street.

We were assigned to a site in the very back in the woods. It looked more like a golf cart road than a road meant for a large 42ft 5th wheel. We narrowly missed several trees as we turned tight corners and scraped our bumper twice on very steep hills. We noticed a couple poles knocked over and a couple trees with large gashes where we can assume RVs had hit them in the past.

We finally maneuvered around to our site and scratched our heads trying to figure out how we would get level. The sites were all dirt with steep slopes (probably around 5-10 degree slopes). The power boxes were covered in cobwebs. No other campers were in sight. And none of the sites had any tire tracks. All signs that something was weird about being assigned back here. We called the after hours number and asked if we could select another site that was more level and didn't drop 1 foot off the asphalt. They said try to find something nearby and let them know which site.

Luckily another camper drove up on their golf cart laughing right then. They said "Thousand Trails always tries to put RVs back here but only tent campers stay here and nobody has stayed back here all year!" They led us back to the main section of the campground where the sites were level and large enough for us. It looked like a regular RV campground. There were at least a dozen full hookup sites available but after calling the after hours number again, they were rude and said, "no, we don't let Thousand Trails members stay in those sites. You have to choose a electric/water only site". We asked if we could pay for a full hookup site and they said "no, talk to us tomorrow" and hung up.

No big deal. We can use the dump station and do our laundry at the next stop. We backed into a site under some large trees and hooked up. It was only 30amp but the water had extra powerful 80psi pressure to make up for it.

We woke up 4 times in the middle of the night as our power kept going out. Our EMS kept alerting us that the voltage was low (around 60-70). We weren't running the ACs or drawing that much power since our batteries were topped off, so we finally just pulled the plug at 3am as we started researching other camping options in the area.

Surprised to see the negative reviews below. Granted, we only stayed four days in mid-September as a Thousand Trails stay over as we headed from Iowa to the east coast. We only got 2-point, water and electric, hook-up, but no problem for a short stay; no problem using the dump station when we left. Quite a few weekenders in the pull-through sites, but pretty quiet in the the 2-point section. I found it one of the friendliest campgrounds we have stayed at with almost everyone single person who passed waving, and a couple folks starting up nice conversations. We enjoyed driving around the countryside as my wife has roots in the area. Sturgis, MI, has all the supplies one would need, including a huge Meijer with some good deals.

We are Thousand Trails Members with the Trails Collection added to our membership. We have used our membership mostly on the west coast and absolutely love it. We have seen Thousand Trails put a lot of money back into their parks over the last year and a half we have been Fulltime. We do not have high expectations when we pull into these parks, but ask for a usable site that is safe for our family. We mostly use our membership to get us to areas so we can explore. This trip was to get to elkhart so we could get warranty repairs on our RV.

When we arrived at this "Camping Resort", it was after hours (time change). We looked around and had been really excited since everything looked CLEAN! We had read all the reviews and thought maybe others got it wrong. That does happen from time to time. So we got our packet and looked on the map to realize we are to go across the street. So we did and as we pulled though the gate we liked what we saw. Nice long road full of green grass.

At the end of the road, there is a loop in the back. It is TIGHT! you will see a tree splits the road in the back. This is where they put the Thousand Trails Members. We have a 40ft bumper pull and it was inches from trees just getting through here. They had a lot of overgrown trees that have not been trimmed in some time. We ended up scratching our truck and RV just navigating the loop. When we pulled up to our site, the grass/weeds were completely overgrown and there was an abandoned satellite dish left in the site. The camp sites next to us had what looked to be abandoned RVs that had been sitting for a long long time. The rest of the loop had annuals and felt like a homeless encampment as they had crap everywhere. There was no one camping back in this loop. It looked mostly like a junk yard. One of those annuals had a dog that ran at us as we got out to inspect the site. They just starred our way and gave us a very uncomfortable feel. When we continued to walk the road to see how we are getting out, they had another dog that started aggressively barking. The owner drank his beer and yelled at the dog.

We ended up leaving and finding another campground down the road. We came back the next day to see if they had any sites that may work for us as we really didn't want to have to continue to pay out of pocket while in this area. This is when we realized that almost the entire park is full of annuals. A lot of them have their sites decorated nicely. When we looked at the open sites, it was going to be tight getting our RV into any of these sites. I didnt want to risk crunching our RV and the overall vibe of the park felt uncomfortable and unsafe for our family.

Upon arrival the office staff (who were very, very nice) told us their computer system always categorizes 40+ foot coaches as “not under 30 feet” but then assigns that coach a 30 foot space anyhow. (site 77 across the street in the back where other reviewers say they always put Thousand Trail members).

The office staff can’t change the site assignment in the computer. So they manually switch it for us to C40. We go scout this site with our toad and there is no way a 40 ft. class A could make the 90 degree turn to get there without hitting something. Other reviewers state the “roads” are golf cart paths- they are!! Back to the office where they offer us two more sites to look at- same problem. So they did allow us to dry camp in a big grassy area for the night since we drove all the way there expecting to stay a while- again which was very nice.

If you have a long 5th wheel you may make the turns since you have a different pivot point, or if you don’t mind scratching you RV- give Twin Mills a try. When we were here all the dumpsters were overflowing and the place stunk like garbage.

I'm a thousand trails member and booked this 'resort' for 14 days. I managed to suffer through 12 hours because I arrived at sundown and thought I would give the place a chance. Sites are cramped. Zero privacy. Old power pedestals. Trash. Loud. Dumpy seasonal sites. It wasn't worth staying even though it was free for me. I left. Listen to the site reviews! I wish I had looked at reviews instead of trusting the pretty pictures on the TT site. Beware!!
