“Fun for the whole family!!”
If you've ever been intrigued by the subterranean world, plan a stay at Horse Cave KOA. It lies in the heart of one of the most significant cave regions on the planet. Beneath the area's rumpled hills, eons of dripping and flowing waters have worn through the limestone bedrock, creating a maze of underground rooms, rivers and sinkholes. Nearby Mammoth Cave National Park preserves the world's largest known cave system. If you're up for adventure, try the belly-crawling, six-hour Wild Cave Tour ( Need to call Mammoth Cave for booking). Cleanup is easy at KOA, where you'll find top-notch family bathrooms and laundry facilities. We also offer Camping Cabins, Wagons, Teepees, Treehouses and shady Pull-Thru RV Sites, a swimming pool, mini golf, a jumping pillow, free fishing, basketball, volleyball and a playground for the kids. Make this a relaxing base camp. In the Fall, the trees reward you with glorious color. Pool: Memorial Weekend - Labor Day Weekend. Max pull thru: 70 feet. Your hosts: The Gedda family.

Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on February 09, 2022great for a one night pass through but they like to bunch up the campers in one area when there were plenty of empty sites. the night I was there 5 TT in a row and about 20 open sites no reason to bunch us up. other than easy for them to keep clean
Very decent campground with a wonderfull view on a valley, where we were treated on a spectacle of fireflies one summer evening...
Stayed for two days on our way through KY. Grabbed what we thought was a larger pull through for our 43 foot coach and BARELY fit. Even though we mentioned we had a trailer. We were almost sticking out on both ends. That said, we were able to park our trailer and car next to the coach. Wide but unrefined.
There are no dumpsters, but there is trash pickup. When you leave, you leave your bagged trash in the site.
Oh, they are building out concrete pads throughout the park but they are not built level from what we saw and would ask KOA to confirm. The back in sites to the left after the office are actually visibly sloped on the contour of the site. Gasp!

We stayed here with our teen boys and did several local attractions including spelunking at horse cave which they loved! The campground had a lot to offer for the kids, basketball, volleyball, jumping pullow and pool. Only complaints are highway noise and our site was a tight pull in, if there had been abother rig in the space across from us we would not have fit. Super nice staff.

Well maintained park right off I-65, just 15 minutes from Mammoth Cave and numerous other attractions. The sites are fairly well spaced, with nice picnic tables and fire rings at each spot. Gravel bed, but fairly level. Plenty of room for parking trailer and SUV. Lots of big rigs here too. Nice shower facilities. Small but nice, clean laundry, though it's pretty pricy at $3/wash and $1.50/dry. Lots of trees, with absolutely serene view of farmland. Some noise from highway, but not bothersome.

Friendly staff and great facilities. The spaces are nice and wide but you will need to level front/back in most of them. My only complaint was the wifi would work for a few minutes then drop out and come back 10 min later. Essentially unusable for work. There was plenty of cell service so it wasn't a deal breaker. It's a great base camp for the National Park and other caves in the area. There is a little bit of road noise from the highway near by.
There is a working farm on the property so you could wake up to a roster crowing, ducks or turkeys outside your camper.

Second time staying here while driving south, late Dec 2021. Some sites are concrete pads, others gravel. Many pull-thru. Pretty campground with a lot of amenities we did not use. Superior shower rooms, very clean. On a hillside close enough to see I-65 but far enough there was little traffic noise. Want to come back sometime for a few days and explore the area.

The campground was gorgeous overlooking lovely rustic green fields. There's a little pond on the property along with horses, chickens, and turkeys. There are plenty of activities for the kids. Cell service was decent as was WiFi. The bathhouse had private showers/toilets and there were ten designated rooms. But some of the rooms were littered with toilet paper and paper towels. Trash cans were almost overflowing. Some of the floors of the shower stalls were dirty, and some of the drain covers were missing. Some of the shower curtains were mildewy along the bottom edge.

Stayed here end of-Aug 2023.
Pull-through 50 amp. FHU. Site #87
***Sites 84-93: The photos on their site are not accurate. There is only rocky gravel. No grass on the sites at all. See my photos.***
THE GOOD:
Sites: Very spacious sites.
Gas/restaurants/groceries: It is within 10 min of anything you might need.
Fun caves nearby: several caves to explore within 5 min. Mammoth Cave NP 20 min away.
Bathrooms: Really nice bathrooms / showers. Private with locking door. Full bathroom like you would have at home with nicely tiled walls.
Wifi: Decent campground wifi for work.
Nice setting: The barn, fishing pond, and farm behind the campground make this campground really comfy.
THE BAD:
Deceiving KOA website photos: Photos on the site are not accurate at all for the sites mentioned.
WORTH NOTING (not good or terrible)
Cell service: the bars of service are strong for Verizon and AT&T...BUT cell service is unstable and drops often. Still works. Just helpful to know ahead of time.
Interstate Noise: Directly off the highway so the noise is something to consider if staying near the barn.
Sites: The sites in pull throughs near the barn are not level. Very high in front and need to adjust a good amount left to right.
Site 87: This particular site is right near a manhole / vent for the campground's sewer system, so it smelled at least.
