“Family-style feel”
Owner, Kevin Hanney, was born and raised in Rochester, NY. He began his culinary career in Santa Cruz where he focused mainly on catering which provided him priceless experience that would later help him to fulfill his dream of becoming a successful restauranteur. After his stint in California he traveled abroad to the South of France and became a private chef on a yacht. In 1996, he started KokoHead Foods, Ltd., a catering business which became Hawaii’s premiere film caterer, having developed a reputation for great food. 12th Ave Grill was established in 2004 by Chef Hanney to offer guests the chance to experience first-rate, local ingredients in Kaimuki. On October 1, 2013, after nine years of service at the original location, Kevin Hanney and wife Denise Luke acquired a new space, formerly Victoria Inn, as the second and present home of 12th Ave Grill. Our current home, although much larger and with an added modern touch, still evokes that family-style feel that our guests have come to love. Currently, Kevin Hanney owns 12th Ave Grill, Salt Bar and Kitchen and Kokohead Cafe.
Singing the praises of Hawaiian bounty, this neighborhood gem celebrates Big Island's seafood and beef, Maui's produce and Oahu's urbanity, all in an old Victorian building seemingly worlds away from the hustle of Waikiki. The vanilla- and orange-braised beef cheeks and the grilled south shore tako bruschetta are winners.
