Rainbow Forest Museum provides exhibits of petrified wood, fossils, and displays of prehistoric animals as well as information, book sales, and restrooms. Timeless Impressions, a free orientation film about the park, is shown every half hour. A gift shop and a seasonal snack bar are located nearby.
If entering park from the south entrance do not stop at the two buildings that say museum on them. They are not the museum! Just a tourist trap with expensive items to buy. Keep going to real museum. It was small, but has some cool fossils and skeletons. Do the trail in the back to see "Old Faithful". The museum has a cute spot where kids can "dig" for fossils without getting dirty.
Quick stop to collect the park info. Nice short trail in the back.
One of the best trails in the whole park is right out back-- Giant Logs Trail. Definitely worth stopping by and checking out. Plus the museum here is a little more fleshed out than the other one-- it's just not as conveniently located.
